Canadian Government Increases Settlement Funds for two Express Entry Programs in 2020

You are here: Home / Immigration / Canadian Government Increases Settlement Funds for two Express Entry Programs in 2020

January 9, 2020 //  by Amit Kumar

Recently the government of Canada declared that they are looking forward to publishing an increment in the immigration plans for skilled workers. This will help a certain number of creative, skilled workers to come into Canada and make a good living there.

Workers who plan to migrate to Canada need to fulfil specific requirements. Such as, they have to present some documentation on their savings and earnings. Also, they need to qualify the required parameters set up by the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) or Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).

This settlement plan organized by the Canadian government is not meant for every worker, even though. It is not for the ones who already have got a job or will get enrolled in some working plan under a registered company. Also, this plan is not for the people who are registered under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

This program is organized to provide citizenship to the family members of the workers who are migrating as well. The following family members who can get legal citizenship under the immigration, refugees, and citizenship Canada (IRCC) by getting included in the application-

  • The appealing applicant.
  • Spouse or partners.
  • Children who are dependent on the principal applicant and their spouse or partner.
  • Children who rely on the principal applicant if he or she is a single parent.

If the spouse and dependent children are residents of Canada, then their names should be in the application. Even if they are migrating their name should be mentioned there.

The following changes are made in the funding of the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) or Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).

Number of family members Funds Required (in Canadian dollars)
1$12,960
2$16,135
3$19,836
4$24,083
5$27,315
6$30,806
7$34,299
Each additional family member $3,492

Who are the ones who can apply for the proof of funds?

  • Federal skilled workers program
  • Federal skilled trades program

What is accepted as the proof for getting enrolled for this funding program?

For getting the funds, the applicant must get official letters from banks or financial institutions where the applicant ids keeping money.

Letters must be:

  • Printed with the bank’s or the financial institution’s letterhead.
  • Printed with the bank’s or the financial institution’s contact details like email address, phone number etc.
  • Printed with your name.
  • Printed with information about the credit card expenses, debts and loans.
  • Printed with current account details where the applicant is keeping their money.

Other information on this:

  • Account numbers.
  • Date of opening the account.
  • Balance of the account.
  • The average balance for the past six months in the statement.

The minimum settlement fee got changed by Canada every year, which is a minimum amount. Even though that is not expected to affect many people, but this might be an issue for jobless workers considering they do not have a stable mode of income.
