Express Entry

Express Entry is a system of immigration programs that allows excellent workers to move to Canada as permanent residents. It is an online immigration application system, which ranks according to the candidate’s work experience, education, age and language abilities.

Applicants, who are looking to apply for the Express Entry, must submit an Expression of Interest to the government of Canada. If you meet the minimum eligibility requirements of the program in question, you will be invited to the Express Entry pool.

The Express Entry governs the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs)

Every Canadian province and Nunavut territory has its immigration program which called Provincial Nominee Program or PNP. The program allows Canadian provinces and territories to nominate individuals who wish to immigrate to Canada and who are interested in settling in a particular province.

Often PNPs search out foreign workers with experience in occupations which are in-demand in the province. For example, the province of Saskatchewan recently changed its PNP to nominate more computer programmers.

There are nearly 80 different PNPs across Canada, each with its own set of eligibility requirements. If you’re eligible for just one of them, that could be your ticket to Canada!  For being involved in this program, candidates are required to have recently worked in Canada or are currently working on a valid work permit.

They need to be currently in the Express Entry pool and have a connection to the province, in the form of studies, prior work experience, or a formal job offer. OR have a family member living in the province in question, which may assist your application for some PNPs.

Become an International Student

There is no better way to come to Canada than through studying at a Canadian university or college. Canada is a top destination in the world for every student from all over the world. The country has excellent schools, affordable tuition, and a positive attitude towards newcomers.

Canada also makes it easy for international students to apply for permanent immigration after their study has ended. Students undergoing a two years program at Canadian University / College have several immigration options. For this reason, many newcomers choose to start their immigration journey by studying in Canada, and then apply for permanent resident’s status later!

It offers some of the world’s best study programs and is home to some of the world’s leading research facilities and academic institutions.

Free Trade Agreements

In addition to the most well-known trade agreement, NAFTA, Canada has other trade agreements that allow for certain immigration exemptions. The only problem is these agreements are only open to citizens from the countries shown: International Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) contain provisions to facilitate, on a reciprocal basis, temporary entry for business persons.

Eligible persons entering under an FTA will generally require a work permit. Canada has free trade agreements with the following countries as shown If you are a national of one of these countries and you work for a company that either has a Canadian operation or has a contract with a Canadian company, you may be able to work in Canada without a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).

These agreements allow for you to work for your company, or their subsidiary, branch, affiliate, or parent company, in Canada in what is called an intra-company transfer. If you’re here long enough, you may be able to use your Canadian work experience to apply for permanent residence through the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) or a Provincial Nominee Program.

Work Permit

If you are semi-skilled or “skilled” (university educated) for most people, the simplest way to come to Canada is to get a work permit. It allows business people, permanent workers, temporary workers, students and others to work in Canada.

There are specific requirements you need to meet for applying to the work permit in Canada. You must prove to an officer that you will leave Canada when your work permit expires, show that you have enough money to take care of yourself and your family members during your stay in Canada and to return home, obey the law and have no record of criminal activity and be in good health and have a medical exam.

Immigrate As Self-Employed Person

The Self-employed Persons Program allows people to immigrate to Canada permanently as an independent person. If you’re interested in this program, you must have relevant experience in cultural activities or athletics and. Be willing and able to make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada.

You can apply if you are: author/writer. Creative and performing artist, Musicians, Painter, Sculptor / visual artist, technical support or another job in motion pictures, Creative designers/craftspeople. Experience needed: At least two years of the last five years.

Canadian Family Sponsorship

Canadian Family Sponsorship is the largest class of Canadian immigration and another way of obtaining permanent residence. It is one of the easiest ways in the country. If you have a spouse or child that is currently a Canadian permanent resident or citizen, they are allowed to sponsor you to come to Canada.

Through the Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship Program (PGP), your child over who is 18 years old or older, who can financially support you to come to Canada, and who is a Canadian permanent resident or citizen, they can sponsor you.

Startup Visa

The start-up visa program is for entrepreneurs who want to start a business in Canada. Your start-up or new business must receive support from a designated organization before you can participate in the visa program. These investors are Canadian venture capital funds, angel investors and business incubators who all have their application process and selection criteria.

Make sure you research each organization carefully to find the best match for your business idea. If a designated organization selects your business idea, you will receive a letter of support that you must include in your application. Processing time: 12 to 16 months Fees from $1540 Optional: While individual’s request for PR is being processed, he/she can apply for a temporary work permit to get to Canada and start building his / her business.

Visitor Visa

If the only way you can come to Canada is with a job offer and a work permit, the easiest way to go to Canada is to get a visitor visa, if you need one, and to look for a job while you’re here. You cannot work in Canada using your visitor visa. But you can communicate with potential employers about future work.

You should know that you will need another reason to visit Canada as it is unlikely that a border officer will be willing to let you into the country if you say you are coming to look for work.

But don’t lie; lying will only make you inadmissible, which means you will not be allowed in. Rather you should plan an actual holiday to Canada to see this beautiful country and, while here, see if you can make a few connections.

Once you have returned home, you can start the work permit process.
