New Express Entry: Canada Invites 3,900 Candidates to Apply for Canadian PR

The Express Entry system implemented by the Canadian government is a streamlined process intended to fill the labour gaps to manage Canadian permanent residence. For this, the Canadian government has launched certain economic immigration programs.

This system aims at recruiting skilled and qualified applicants who are likely to succeed economically. The candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria for Express entry programs are issued an invitation letter. The Canadian government releases this letter based on a scoring system.

A recent invitation round through the Express Entry system by the Government of Canada was held on 4th March. A total of 3,900 candidates were issued invitations this round, with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement of 471.

Cut off this time has seen a rise of one point from the previous draw—the last draw held with a minimum score of 470 on 19th February. Four thousand five hundred candidates reviewed Invitation to Apply (ITA) by the government fulfilling the Minimum Entry Criteria (MEC). This resulted in the largest draw ever held by the Government of India.

The Express Entry system targets mainly three key economic-class immigration programs. The programs are namely- the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class. The ranking is done.

Considering several factors such as age, education, skilled work experience and language ability in English or French. The candidates are ranked based on their score achieved through the Comprehensive Ranking System.

This ranking further helps the government to identify the potential immigrants quickly. The highest-ranked candidates received ITA for Canadian permanent residence as provided through regular draws. The applications for permanent residence of which will soon be processed within six months by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

The government issued a target of 85,800 ITA target for new permanent resident admissions this year. And to meet this target, it is issuing a larger number of invitations in its every draw.

The latest draw conducted brings the total number of ITAs to 18700. Thus, all those candidates who scored above 471 and those entered their profile before this date in the Express Entry, received ab ITA.

There is also a provision of provincial nomination in the Express Entry. The ones who receive a provincial nomination are awarded extra 600 points. These points add to their CRS score and mice to the front line for ITA. So, the number of Express Entry-linked provincial nominee streams have also been closely monitored in recent weeks.

These additional 600 points are specifically beneficial for candidates with low scores. The candidates who have lower CRS scores and fail to reach the cut-off in a federal Express Entry draw gets the benefit. A candidate’s CRS score that is below the cut-off scores in respective draws are not considered by several Express Entry linked provincial nominee streams.

The several States have invited Express Entry candidates to apply for the provincial nomination over the past two weeks. These including Alberta, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Prince Edward Island and British Columbia.
