How International Education Can Resolve Conflicts?

When things look grim in the world, we see visionaries in these two institutions which remind us that peace is possible. The emerging new generations have the new kind of energy that we need to resolve the complex conflicts and problems we have in the world.

USIP, NAFSA and their alliance for peacebuilding represented over time have joined together to develop a new narrative specifically for Congress around the world peace freeing afferent associations of the tied eye and broken stacks and repositioning it as a powerful and achievable strategy for human security everywhere.

USIP

USIP is a nonpartisan, independent and national institute, established by Congress and reserved to the proposal that peace is possible in the world without violent conflicts. It owes that peace is possible, peace is a priority, peace is practical, peace is practice and affirms that peace is vital for the US and global security.

The U.S. Institute of peace works in some of the most dangerous places in the world to provide guidance, resource, training and analysis for people struggling to deter and avert violent conflict. USIP works actively in almost 51 countries during conflict and extremism.

Their staffs work along with the government for building peaceful solutions during the bloodshed. The countries include Afghanistan, Iraq, Burma, Nigeria, Somalia and many more.

NAFSA

NAFSA is the world’s largest nonprofit organization committed to International education which works to ensure an interconnected and peaceful world today and also for the future generations to come.

NAFSA provides diversity in the classroom, community and workplace which strengthens the organization in developing globally competitive individuals. Thereby delivering leadership for the global community.

Peace is Double-Stranded As in a DNA

Progress of peacebuilding is important since the power to make and sustain peace lies within each of us and the need for that power brings down upon us every day. As we see violence, displacement and polarization emerge forcefully here at home and around the world.

When we think of peace, we think of double-stranded DNA of order. First peacebuilding is a field very closely tide with theory and ideas. The primacy of ideas and peacebuilding lies close to the role of the University in peacebuilding. University plays an outsized role in developing theory, especially around the interdisciplinary lines that are so necessary when you are working with complex issues such as conflict and prevention.

Universities are crucial for peace and social action and in every country, including ours, students exposed to the idea of the order are taking education in their own hands and seeding peace even in the face of daunting violence. The University plays a vital role in world peace and serves as signal amplifiers for the new generation of peace-builders.

The second strand of DNA is the moral imagination, and this captures the idea and ability that people who mire in the deep conflict can imagine a future that includes their enemies where sustainable peace is possible. In every conflict, you find few transformative people who have the gift of imagining what the collective future might look like.

Researches say that the brands of peace-builders are better able to hold two simultaneous realities or two different frames to a problem at the same time. This perhaps is the clue to the moral imagination and that ability to look at future so different to the one we look at now.

This is what universities do, and they cultivate moral imagination. You get an opportunity to see people and experience ideas so different from yourself. You create cultural bridges.

For those lucky enough to study abroad, you learn new cultures and understanding that there is not just one way to live in the world. These are skills not only for that small number of professionals who want to become professional peace-builders.

It is important for every one of you who are going into banking, science, community actions, social work. To have that DNA of peacebuilding in your curriculum in your studies, extra curriculum work gives you the ability to withstand the world, thus increasing polarized.

Peace might occur if we get our institutions right. There is an emphasis on this Democratic small D institutions which create a voice for citizens. This lead to the idea of positive peace, that peace is not merely the absence of violence.

Still, order is conglomerations of charitable institutions around education, anti-corruption, security sector affirm that can lead to a society that can resolve conflict through negotiation in dialogue and governance and not resolving through weapons.

Education, by itself, doesn’t guarantee peace. The researchers say that modern youths can stand up and raise voice to change the negativity around conflict and the power security leading to conflict.

The power in youth generation now questions the negativity. There is a generation shift that says that we cannot tolerate it anymore. Thus probably in the next few years, we will be able to see peace.
