How Can You Grab a Job at Starbucks?

Getting a job at Starbucks is not that easy, especially during the pandemic. You have to research, look for the opportunities near your area, apply when there is a vacancy, and then crack the interview to get a job at Starbucks.

Here are a few steps you can grab a job at Starbucks. Let’s go one by one today.

Visit the Careers Page

Check out the careers page at the Starbucks to know if they are on the hiring mode. Find out if there are any job openings suitable for you.

Choose Your Job Profile

Decide if you want to work in the store or the corporate office. If you’re going to get a job at the store, then you can apply for any of the following positions:

  • Shift manager
  • Assistant store manager
  • District manager
  • Regional director
  • Shift supervisor
  • Store manager
  • Barista

It is best for freshers with no experience in working at coffee shops to apply for the Barista position. Freshers can learn everything from scratch and go up the ladder gradually.

If you want to work in the corporate sector of Starbucks, then you can apply for a job in the legal, financial, human resources, marketing, or the public relations department as per your qualification.

Apply for a Job Online

Create an account in Starbucks as a new job candidate. Please choose your desired job profile and apply for it online with your updated resume.

Make sure you give proper contact information in your resume. Prepare a simple resume. Starbucks will do a background check on you. Lies won’t get you anywhere.

Dig information Online

Check out the website of Starbucks thoroughly and read everything about the company. Know about its inception, mission, and vision. You should know everything about the company before giving the interview. Understand what the core value of the company is.

You can talk about those values during the interview. For instance, you believe in the importance of the company. This is why you want to work at Starbucks. That may help you impress the hiring managers.

Weigh the Competition

Read, read, and read. Read about the competitors of Starbucks if you want to get a job in the marketing department. Think about the possible strategies that will give Starbucks an edge over others. Also, chalk out the marketing strategies that can help Starbucks to survive during the pandemic. Many people have stopped coming out of their homes due to self-isolation. Think about how Starbucks can reach those customers.

Many customers have also stopped ordering at Starbucks due to financial constraints. So, you can think about the low-cost products that Starbucks can prepare and sell to attract those customers. Companies like Starbucks are looking for these kinds of ideas. If you can share a few of these ideas with them, then no can stop you from getting the job.

Have a Sip of Coffee

If you want to work as a Barista, then visit the Starbucks outlet once, and have a sip of coffee. See how the workers behave and interact with customers. Observe the ambience while drinking coffee. Look at what people are having. You will get an idea about the bestsellers. Small details may come handy during the interview.

Update Your LinkedIn Profile

Update your resume on the Linkedin profile and then try to connect with the hiring managers at Starbucks. You have to look for those recruiters who work in the nearest Starbucks retail outlets. Send them a message and ask if there is an open job position. You are interested in being a ‘partner’ of the company. Don’t send too many messages as they may get angry.

What Else You Must Do

1. Keep your resume updated and carry it in the interview.

2. Wear formals even if it is an online interview.

3. Give crisp and logical answers to all the questions.

4. If someone asks yourself about your weakness, then say something, which is strength. For instance, you can say that you can’t hurt people. So, you often smile and hide your hurt, which is of good quality.

5. Ask a few pertinent questions to the interviewer so that he understands that you are serious about this job and have researched the company as well.

Is It Easy to Grab a Job at Starbucks?

It is not easy to get a job at Starbucks as the competition is vast. Starbucks receives almost four million job applications every year. But they recruit only 50,000 candidates. This means that Starbucks hires only 1% of candidates.

What Is the Waiting Period?

Usually, you have to wait for 2-3 weeks after submitting your job applications online. Starbucks schedules an interview after 2-3 weeks. Much depends on the number of resumes they receive for a particular job profile. If they receive a massive number of job applications, then you may have to wait a bit longer than the usual waiting period.

Keep in mind that you will get a call from them only if they have vacancies.

If there is an urgent job requirement, then you may get the interview call within 3-4 days also and get hired within a week.

Can You Get a Job at Starbucks as a Fresher?

Fresh graduates have a good chance of getting a job at Starbucks. They don’t need previous work experience to get a job. All they need to have is a charming personality. They should be patient, happy, efficient, calm, decent, hardworking, confident, and knowledgeable.

What Kind of Questions Do You Have to Answer in the Starbucks Interview?

  • Are you up for working under pressure?
  • What are your strengths and weaknesses?
  • What are your customer service qualities?
  • Do you know how to make coffee or food?
  • Do you know how to handle cash registers?
  • These are just a few examples. Questions may vary as per the job positions.
