The Reason behind the Removal of the ban

Now, the international students can easily enter in Australia for July onwards. This is allowed only on a condition when the travellers strictly follow the quarantine rules.

The steps of releasing the lockdown are easy except for the third one, as it requires to take measures of quarantine. The cost of this step is being explored. And, the third step involves the travelling of international students and teachers from the Pacific island. Die to the increased number of travellers, strict rules are to be followed to contain the virus.

Morrison stated that international education contributes to AU 140 $ billion annually, and the ban on travelling has had a significant effect on the economy.

Opinions about the Moving of Lockdown

The PIE news writer Julian said that Australia should follow the lead of Canada. He insisted that when Canada can follow the strict rules and move the ban on travelling, then Australia can do that too.

Universities Australia CEO Catriona said that they welcome international and national students to come and study face to face. This will be applied only when it is safe to do so.

The President of AAERI Lochan Singh reported to PIE news that Indian students won’t be able to resume face to face studying. This is because of the Indian academic calendar being disrupted due to the pandemic.

Furthermore, he said that universities are operating a third intake in November, after which hopefully the students of the Indian region can join.

The Three-staged Australian Exit Plan

However, the Australian exit plan has three stages. Stage One allows the travelling of local and regional travellers. In this stage, only ten people are allowed to gather at home, for business, or at public places.

StageTwo allows interstate travelling and increases the gathering limit to twenty people. Whereas the last stage, Stage Three, enables the travelling of an international student. It also allows the gathering size to cross 100.

Harrison stated on 8th May that the country is moving forward with lockdown with a crystal clear plan. He insisted the public on following the rules strictly. The progress after the release of the lockdown will be analyzed every three weeks.

He warned that there might be more cases or setbacks. But he further gave hope that they cannot stop everything. All they can don’t take care of ourselves and our society to move past this pandemic.
