Solar Power Pros and Cons – Essay Tips

Solar power is the technology used to harness the energy of the Sun and make it useable. Moreover, this technology produced less than one-tenth of one per cent of the world’s energy demand. We are also familiar with photovoltaic cells or solar panels found on things like rooftops, spacecraft, and calculators.

Solar Power-source of Heat:

While on a grand scale, solar thermic plants apply various methods to collect solar energy as a constant source of heat. This heat is then used to boil water to run a steam turbine and supplying electricity for thousands of people.

Solar power does not work at night without a battery. Japan, Germany, and the United States are significant markets regarding solar cells.

Pollution and Noise-free:

Other technologies of solar power are passive. Big windows are placed on the sunny side of a building to absorb heat absorbent materials on the floor and walls. Solar power is considered an inexhaustible energy source which means that it is pollution and even noise-free.

This technology is versatile as solar cells generate energy for far-out places in satellites in earth orbit and cabins deep in the rocky mountain.

Pros of Solar Power:

To help you out, we have designed a detailed list that equally weighs the pros and cons of solar power.

Development in Technology:

Technology in solar power is continuously advancing. It will keep improving in the future also. Innovations in quantum physics can increase the potential and effectiveness of solar panels. Even nanotechnology can double or triple the electrical input of solar power systems.

The Decrease in Electricity Bills:

As you start meeting your energy needs with electricity, your solar system has generated it will decrease your electricity bills. How much money you save is dependent entirely on the size of the solar system you are using.

By installing various solar plates in serious, you can consume all your energy needs from this source of energy. Save this money as it helps to improve your living standard.

Used for Diverse Applications:

You can generate electricity or heat through solar power that can be used for various purposes. Solar energy can also be used to produce electricity in areas where there is no access to the energy grid.

It is used to power satellites in space. It can also be integrated into materials that are used in the future for constructing buildings. Sharp introduced transparent solar energy windows a long ago.

Low Maintaining Costs:

Solar systems do not need a lot of preservation. It would help if you cleaned them throughout the year. Many cleansing companies rely on solar panels, and reliable solar panels offer 20-25 years of warranty.

After covering the initial cost of the solar system, so you can expect minimal spending on maintenance and repair work.

Solar Power-renewable Source of Energy:

Apart from all the benefits of solar panels, one of the most important pros is that solar power is a renewable source of energy. It can be easily harnessed in all areas of the world and is available now every day. Just like other sources of energy, we cannot run out of the available solar energy.

Thus, solar power will be accessible as long as we have Sun. So, it will be available to us for at least 5 billion years when the Sun is going to die according to scientists.

Solar Works in Different Climates:

Many people assume that solar batteries will not work in colder climates. This is not true because many solar panels work efficiently. After all, excessive heat reduces the output voltage.

So, yes, the solar system works everywhere when there is sunlight. Direct exposure to sunlight helps solar systems generate more electricity. No doubt, modern panels are quite efficient and can still produce electricity in low light situations.

Cons of Solar Power:

Apart from the pros, solar energy also has some drawbacks which we called cons.

Produces Air Pollution:

Pollution associated with solar power is less as compared to other conventional sources of energy. Transportation and installation of solar panels or systems give rise to the emission of greenhouse gases.

Also, many toxic and hazardous products are used during the manufacturing process of solar photovoltaic cells which indirectly affect the environment. However, it produces far less air pollution comparatively o to other alternative sources of energy.

Require a lot of Space:

If you want to produce more electricity, you will need more solar panels to catch as much as solar heat. Solar panels require a lot of space while some roofs are not large enough to a large number of solar panels as you envy.

Another alternative is to install some of the panels in your yard while having access to the sunlight. But in case if you don’t have much space to install them, then go for a few to meet your energy needs.

Depends on the Weather:

This is possible that solar energy can still be collected throughout cloudy and rainy days but the overall efficiency of a solar system drops. Solar panels are entirely dependent on sunlight to gather solar power effectively.

Thus few dark days will leave a noticeable impact on our solar system. Solar energy can’t be collected during the night. While on the other hand, if you need a water heating solution to work during the night time, thermodynamic panels are a successful alternative to consider.

The Initial Cost of Buying Solar Panels:

The prices of buying solar panels are initially high. This includes paying for inverters, solar panels, batteries, wiring, and installation. Solar technologies are continually developing, and definitely, it is safe to assume before the time that prices of solar power will go down shortly.

Storing Solar Energy Is Expensive:

Solar power can be stored in large batteries, and then these can serve as a source of electricity in off-grid power stations. It can easily be changed throughout the day so that energy obtained can be used during night time.

As energy demand is higher during day time, so you meet most of your energy needs using solar power.

Conclusion:

Solar power is readily available in abundance to us. These are the most highlighted pros and cons of solar power, like most governments, companies, and international organizations are working to make it as a cheap source of energy.
