Australian Universities are Showing More Interest in Indian Students than Chinese Students

The era of Chinese students in Australian universities has almost ended. The past six years shows highly productive growth of Chinese students in Australia but now things have changed.

Recently, Australian universities are considering the Indian market to reach their estimated expectations related to international students. They are revealing the risk of low-quality students who have poor English.

Last week, a senior Department of Home Affairs official briefed universities stated that the number of visa applications from Indian students was found more than Chinese students.

The number of visa applications of Chinese students is received in a very low amount but Indians are going very fast in this scenario. So, Australia is considering more about Indians and other interested countries.

This could be a result of the decline political relationship between China and Australia. It is also possible that the number of students coming from China has a direct correspondence to political issues between countries. If that is the main issue then it’s possible that tourism may be the next step down.

But it is also possible that China is increasing its efforts on enhancing opportunities related to its students. So, there could be many other possibilities behind it. Maybe the home country wants to protect the value of its currency as well.

Despite a predicted decline from China that is overlooking the market, Australian universities will continue to enhance the demand of international students like from Indian market and others. They are still enjoying the booming demand for international student although they know about the decrease in visa applications from China’s side.

According to some predictions, Australia becomes the second country as the most famous destination for international students after the United States.

The analysis shows that Australia had over-reliance on China but now they are diversifying their interest in other countries.

Collaboration between Austrade and Global Education Platform Study Portals published a report last year which stated that Australia has an ambitious mission of 720,000 international students’ enrolments by 2025. It included quality degrees, protection and encouraging employment possibilities.

Recent years show a heavy growth of international students worldwide. It seems like international students have become cash cows for the countries. This situation is impacting the education standard and political complications of countries.

A news report that gave analysis at the programs on Study portals platforms, stated that Australia is exposing booming concern and is proceeding to strengthen its position as a great international education player. The dependence on Chinese number of students has not an ideal challenge. Currently, Chinese students value for 30 percent of all students.

the more it said that though, as Chinese student numbers inflated to level off around 2013, the current estimates show that the number of college-going students in China will decrease by about 40 percent between 2010 and 2025.

Australian universities were very dependent on China when the numbers of Chinese college-going students started to decrease then Australia has also shown interest in other countries for taking international students.

There are many other countries like Sri Lanka, Britain, India, US and Canada that are showing interest in Australian undergraduate programs. The programs offered by Australia will give imperative growth in medicine and health, engineering and technology, agriculture and forestry, leisure and sports and applied sciences. It has increased competition with Germany, Canada Netherlands, Sweden, and some Asian countries.
