Australia To Call More Foreign Students To Increase Migration

Immigration Minister David Coleman announced at Sydney Institute that they will maintain a sharp focus on international students, skilled migrants and will encourage migration to regional Australia under the Morrison government.

At the institute, he emphasized the importance of migration in the economy, and he wants every citizen of his country to approach it with positivity and clear eyes.

To maximize the revenue generated by Australian immigration intake, he said that it is required to keep immigration easy for the international students and the skilled migrants, he also encouraged to settle these migrants in regional areas of countries.

He also emphasized on the importance of skilled immigrants, the more experienced he or she is, the better it is, for the economy.

He later added that when you have the inputs producing more output in less expense, only then you can generate wealth and improve the living standard of the society as a whole.

The upper limit of Australian Immigration has been decreased from 190,000 to 160,000 during 2015-16, which had approximately 70% of skilled immigrants in them.

Mr. Coleman said, international education is good for Australia and will remain an integral component of the Australian immigration policy.

International students are a 35 billion dollar export industry for Australia, and It is the largest part of temporary immigration in Australia, he said.

While getting things into perspective, last year’s wheat and beef exports were $4 billion and $8.5 billion, and that is far less than what revenue international students bring in.

He said education sector support high wage, high skilled jobs, the exact type of jobs we want to have in our country for our people.

He also emphasized on encouraging international students and skilled working to work outside capital areas.

An additional year will be awarded to those international students studying and working in regional areas. It will promote the development of those regions.

Under two visa categories about 23,000 places will be allocated to the migrants. It will make them able to live and work in Australia for three years before becoming eligible for permanent residence in Australia.

When questioned about how the government will able to make sure these migrants stay in regional areas, Mr. Coleman said: that the advantage of becoming a permanent resident of Australia would motivate them to stay in those areas for three years. These regional areas include Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and the Gold Coast.

He expects high agreement from immigrants and international students on this new visa scheme.

Apart from that, Australia has other schemes offering Humanitarian visas to refugees and families who escape catastrophic situations and domestic violence in their countries, which makes Australia most generous when it comes to immigration.

According to Mr. Coleman, it is one of a kind overseas recruitment program for skilled individuals and students from across the globe, and he expects to recruit a minimum of 5000 skilled immigrants per year.
