Bridging Visa in Not a Problem in Australia

You are here: Home / Blog / Bridging Visa in Not a Problem in Australia

August 10, 2019 //  by Amit Kumar

A bridging visa (BVA) is a temporary visa. You are allowed to stay in Australia after your current substantive visa has stopped and while processing your primary visa application. It is a good thing because if you have to stay in Australia and you don’t have a substantive visa, or it has expired.

The bridging visa start once your substantive visa expires, it lasts for 28 days after the decision on your new application has been made. All that you have to get a bridging visa is actually be in Australia first then you have to apply for a substantive visa that can be granted, then you can have it.

At March 31, the number of the people living and working in Australia by a bridging visa has raised to 229,242; this is the highest that this number has ever gotten and the government expects that it is going to keep on growing.

The reason for this increase is that Evidence proves that this number keeps rising because people tend to apply for a humanitarian or a protection visas once they’re in the country.

The problem with it is that people that do the immigration papers and do all the necessary affairs sees that it’s just not that fair to them, as they all do the systematic papers and pay all their fees to get to live well in Australia.

Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA) says

The Committee for Economic Development claims that almost 20% out of the people staying in Australia with abridging visa is unemployed.
This means that almost 50,000 people out of this group are not working and this is a really high number compared to the average of Australia.

Time of the Substantive Visa

The actual time that it takes to get the visa to stay in Australia can take weeks, and this is the reason that all these people get to stay on the bridging visas until they get their actual visas. In 2009-10 there were almost 53,000 applicants for partner visas that were waiting to be done, and there were 27,000 people waiting in the queue in June 2010.

And by comparing this to 2017-18, which is eight years later, there were 54,000 applicants for partner visas, but with fewer places available (39,800) and more than 80,000 people waiting in the queue. So this is the main reason in the rising of the Bridging visa.

Melinda Cilento, Chief Executive of CEDA

She said that temporary migrants had improved Australia’s prosperity, though the growth in bridging visas did warrant closer inspection.

Also, the Labor Increase.

When it comes to the increasing of the people living in the country also comes the increase of labor and also comes with the skill and expert in all different fields.

So, getting a bridging visa in Australia is not a hard thing, and actually, it is so easy to get it until your real visa arrives, but when it comes to unemployment, then this is where you have to take action.
