The Australian education system is an integral part of their immigration policy. International students are allowed to work in Australia after completing their education.
The Post Study Work Visa, officially called 485 visa, allows international students who have recently graduated with a degree from an Australian institution to temporarily live, work and study in Australia.
It comprises of two streams – Graduate Work (18 months) and Post-Study Work (two, three or four years depending on highest qualification achieved).

This process might take 5-6 years but Australia has a very straightforward path to permanent residency using a points system.
The key is to select a course which can qualify for PR. General Skilled Migration is now an “invitation only” visa – you must first receive an invitation to apply through the SkillSelect system.
Chose a course which can qualify you for the right occupation in skill assessment. There is no point doing a course which does not help you qualify.
We have seen students want to study in subjects which they can never qualify.
Think which state has the best job opportunities and requirements. Go and study there. Don’t study and work in a state where competition is high for a work visa.
Occupational Ceilings do not apply for state nominated visas – so if you are in a pro-rata occupation, this may be your best option.
This greatly improves your chances of state nomination and gives you 5 points if you complete a qualification taking 2 academic years.
