Go USA with Certified Student and Exchange Visitor Program

The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) is an American Government program which acts as a bridge for government organizations that have an interest in information on non-immigrants whose primary reason for coming to the United States is to be students.

The Department of homeland security has established this program for those students, who are looking to stay temporarily and skilled workers who want to get professional certifications.

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement have created this program to streamline the procedure of getting a visa. So, the International Students and skilled workers who want their visa applications approved faster get a visa before the commencement of Programme.

According to their website, the students are classified into two classes called the F-1 and the M-1 category, each is created to differentiate between the normal students who are following the academic education system and others who are following the non-academic training system.

1.    F-1: Foreign Students enrolling in academic programs at a university, college. High school, private school, or any other academic institution, including an English language program.

2.    M-1: Foreign Students enrolling in a technical program at vocational or other recognized non-academic institution, other than a language program.

Education Level

After checking types of students, it will be helpful to know about how members of these different classes are treated according to the level of education they are getting in the US.

Kindergarten to Grade 12: It is the first formal class in the American education system, students enroll at the age of six, it spans to Grade 12 which covers primary and secondary education, till they reach the age of 18.

Postsecondary: Students enroll in postsecondary schooling at the age of 18, in institutions offering undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs.

ELT: ELT or (English language training), In the US many Foreigners (from all ages) enroll in language programs that are designed to increase fluency in the English language.

This Programme has even made it more convenient for the governments to send working military personnel to get specialized training.

The process for SEVP certification takes around 12 months to complete, it also requires dense documentation, and included an on-site visit to the Houston campus.

Courses are taught at MIAT College of Technology which offers individuals, career education and training essentials for the skilled workers in the highly demanded field such as aviation, maintenance, energy, industrial manufacturing, wind power, welding, and HVACR (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration)

The Houston campus is expanding according to a spokesperson, the number of students is increased 10 times from what it was before, there were only 45 students in 2015 and now in 2019, the number is increased to 425 students. The school is offering courses in both morning and evening classes.

One downside of this training is that the institution gives no scholarships to the international students and they pay full fees from their own or government pays for them.

Housing for these international students is not a big issue, they can get housing near Houston campus because of a special agreement between MIAT and collegiate housing society.
