Canada Issued Invitations for 3,782 Immigrants to Apply for Canadian PR

Canadian Government has issued invitations for 3,782 immigration candidates and their families to apply for Canadian permanent residence. Invitations were issued to candidates of the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program with Detailed Ranking System (CRS) scores as low as 455.

This is the fourth draw in Express Entry history to select CEC candidates exclusively. CEC applicants may be targeted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) because they are most likely to be in Canada as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

Until now, Canada has released 30,400 ITAs in 2020. In 2019 a total of 85.300 were issued via Express Entry. Under its 2020-2022, the Government of Canada is expecting entry of 341,000 immigrants in 2020, 351,000 in 2021 and another 361,000 in 2022. PNP admissions are expected to increase by 2022 by 20 per cent.

The most recent draw saw the tie-breaking rule enforced on January 20, 2020. This means that, in this invitation round, all candidates with a CRS score of 455 and above who submitted their profile before that date and time earned an ITA.

This was the eleventh round of invitations under Express Entry in 2020 and the 144th overall. Given Canada’s higher admission targets for its three Federal Skilled immigration programs in 2020 and 2021, it is expected that IRCC will hold more frequent and more significant draws in the coming weeks and months.

Eligibility for the Program

All eligible Express Entry candidates are given a score based on factors such as age, employment, professional work experience and English or French proficiency. They then join the Express Entry area.

Unlike all-program invitation rounds, which draw from the entire Express Entry pool and appear to result in higher cut-off scores, niche drawings for a particular cohort such as Canadian Experience Class candidates that produce lower cut-off scores provided that they target a smaller pool of applicants.

The draw cut-off score of 455 today was 9 points lower than in the last CEC Express Entry draws, which were 464.
