Who Is a Hero?

Strength, confidence, patience, and perseverance are the words that come to mind when the word hero gets mentioned. Heroes give people hope and purpose and reason to live a meaningful life, let alone bringing light into the world. And this is what makes heroes, the role models to most people.

As we get to find out, these heroes share widespread attributes observed by the people looking up to them.

Below are some examples of what role models provide to us. Let’s dive in:

1. Provides Strong Foundation

Hit the iron when it’s hot, so they say. Role models most appeal to children as they experience a life which the children would wish to have. This makes them vulnerable to the direct impact the role models have on them, be it a negative one or a positive one.

The parents and guardians are most responsible for this and should steer them towards the positive side of their development.

Mama is the name that first escaped my mouth as my hero. Life does not come with a manual; it comes with a mother. The teacher, the doctor, cook, not forgetting unconditional love and care, hard work, and success are just some of the superpowers she possesses even after raising two sons.

Our lower grade teacher once gave my class an assignment to find someone who had a life that we wanted and figure out how they got it. I needed not to do any research because I already knew precisely whose life I tried to duplicate; mothers.

The only hurdle was to figure out how she managed to get that life as the strength and stamina were incomparable to mine. I am still trying to figure it out to this day.

2. Life-long Education

It has been stated that the most potent form of education is one that and individual will use to make a difference in one’s life and to others. life extended education is what my mother strived while preparing us for the world “outside.”

She has never forgotten to live while she is busy making a living, as most parents do without realizing it. This is an excellent example to emulate, especially with this fast-paced world where people are too focused on success and partially focus on being good role models to their children.

A good role model should be able to instil these lifelong lessons to the people that look up to them.

They say role models are of limited use for no one is as important, influential, and key in your life and world. The emphasis is that role models come and go and exchanged with age and time.

However, to object to this, a strong foundation is an essential part of building a building. With my mother having been there impacting my brother and me with strong moral values, confidence, and strength even with a change in role models, the primary education gained will still be in us.

3. Portrayal of Confidence

A hero will stand up with confidence and braveness to fight injustices of the world and, in the meanwhile, save the “damsel in distress.” This is just another example of what my role model does. Despite the odds being against her, my mother will stand up to people in power and make sure justice prevails.

The bullies of our world never stood a chance against her. She is also a giant in making business. Her success is the envy of single mothers who work with men who will always try and steady hand her. The path to success is persistence. She will never give up and does not take no for an answer to strive for success.

4. Purpose

Making a difference is one of the essential things a role model should do to inspire others. This gives one the sole purpose of living. This directly impacted me on the difference I want to make while still in this world, and as I also strive to be a role model to others and my future generations.

We all have to take up the mantle when our role models are no longer there, and we are now role models.

5. Knowledge

“Jack of all trades.” This is another word that will describe my mother. From being the handyman, gardening, know-how of handling a screwdriver, hammer amongst other tools, the knowledge bestowed in this amazing lady will never cease to amaze me.

The serene atmosphere was always disrupted by the peculiar odour of freshly baked pancakes in the morning, grilled chicken during lunch hour, and the finger-licking fish fillet soup during dinner.

Her cooking was exemplary.” In my book”, my mother would give Wikipedia a run for its money if it came to the diversity of knowledge in the most unpredictable situations.

5. Optimism and Never Give up Attitude

A good role model opens up the possibility that one can achieve whatever they dream of, as long as it is achievable. These words echo in my mind every time I was to give up, and my mother’s kind voice would reassure me that everything is possible.

She never forgot to state that I should not forget my morals in strive to push for success. Inspiration from the role models will always give hope during tough and hopeless situations. This manifested through the speech of Martin Luther King,” I have a dream,” which is one of the most influential role models of the new America.
