Australia Announces New Faster Permanent Residency Visa for Highly Skilled Candidates

Australia is one place where a lot of us want to live in. Even though it is one of the costliest countries for an immigrant to settle down, the country is worth living in, given its infrastructure and health care policies. Australia is one of the most developed countries in the world.

Obtaining a visa isn’t a lot of hard work for the immigrants the way it is for other developed countries. But with the world progressing, Australia doesn’t want to be left behind. Australia recognizes that one of the best ways to boost their development is to not to do it alone but also take help from the outside world.

This is the reason why the Australian government has recently updated its process for visa applications for people who are highly skilled in their jobs

A Sum of Future-Focused Fields Targeted

The newly updated Australian visa scheme is focused on immigrants from a few specific fields. The name of the areas is – agriculture technology, energy and mining technology, space and advanced manufacturing, financial technology, medical technology, quantum information/data science/advanced digital, cybersecurity and ICT.

The Global Talent Independent Program

This was a wise move from the Australian government. The Global Talent Independent Program (GTIP), which was announced in June, was introduced to target and invite the best talents of the world to Australia and lure them to stay there only.

The Minister launched the program for Immigration, Migrant Services, Multicultural Affairs, and Citizenship, David Coleman, this week on Monday.

The target of the program is to lure in at least a total of 5000 highly skilled workers who are earning a very good income and are at high positions in their respective fields and countries to Australia between July 2019 to June 2020 and allow them to achieve the status of permanent residency without any hassle so that they can stay in Australia and contribute to its development.

Under the GTIP program, only the migrants who are earning above an income level of $149,000 annually in Australia and fall into the category of one of the fields as mentioned above will be able to enjoy the benefits of permanent residency that the schema offers.

The Fast-Tracked Permanent Residency

To have an idea, David Coleman said the process for permanent residency wouldn’t take months, but only mere weeks. Migrants who wish to avail themselves to the benefits of this scheme can also take help of an individual or an organization who has a national reputation in the same field as of the applicant.

Coleman was quoted saying that Australia is intentionally targeting the world’s most highly skilled migrants to achieve a position where the competition in Australia comes to a place where the only place to be in the top would be to work hard and stay creative. It will aid in the growth of industries that are currently lagging in terms of a highly skilled and experienced workforce.
