Apply for PR in Canada with 3,200 Invitations of New Express Entry

In the latest draw of New Express Entry System Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 3,200 invitations. Invitations were made to the candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 472 or higher to apply for permanent residency.

The Express Entry System manages candidates’ provisions of eligible candidates for Canada’s three main skilled workforce immigration categories –

  • Federal Skilled Worker Class
  • Federal Skilled Trades Class
  • The Canadian Experience Class

Under the Express Entry System, the candidates need first to create an online expression of interest. Candidates are awarded scores on the basis of factors such as age, education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English or French.

In order to be eligible for the express entry program, there is no need to have job offers to make (ITA) application, although additional CRS points are awarded if the candidate has any job.

Some candidates with the highest rank are invited to apply for PR through regular Canada withdrawal from the pool. This invitation round usually takes place every two weeks, and mostly three categories of candidates are included in the Express Entry.

The factors, including the number of candidates in the express entry pool, the time between draws and the number of ITAs issued will determine the cut-off CRS score.

There are also 132nd round invitations following the entry into today’s draw and IRCC has implemented its tie-breaking rule with a timestamp of December 6, 2019, at 03:03:49 UTC. This means that all candidates with a score of 472 who entered with their profile in the Express Entry pool before this date and time received an ITA.

Under the Canada Immigration multi-year levels plan, the coming year target for new permanent residents recruited through three express entry-managed immigration programs will increase to 85,800 this year, up from 81,400 this year.

The entry target for the Canadian Provincial Nominee Program or PNP has also been set to increase from 61,000 to 67,800 in 2020, a share of which is managed by the express entry system.

The nine provinces of Canada and the two regions associated with the express entry system are known as “enhanced” PNP streams.

These sections invite them to select Express Entry candidates and apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residency in Canada. Many have lower or no need for CRS score requirements.

Express Entry candidates receive a provincial nomination, receiving 600 additional points toward their CRS score and effectively guaranteeing an ITA.

The past two weeks have seen an increase in nomination streams for issue invitations to Express Entry candidates in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia.

The senior partner with the Campbell Cohen Canadian immigration law firm David Cohen said, “It’s been a busy couple of weeks for enhanced PNP nomination streams, and that is welcome news for Express Entry candidates with lower CRS scores”.

“Today’s draw was relatively small, there is always the possibility of larger ones down the road, especially as we enter the new year with a high admissions goal.”
