How To Get Job In Canada?

You are here: Home / Blog / How To Get Job In Canada?

August 7, 2019 //  by Free Educator

Canada has the best work policies in the world. If you are unhappy with your current job then why not immigrate to Canada which offers new exciting opportunities for immigrants.

As per the United Nations, Canada has the best salaries in the world. Minimum hourly rates start from $11 and can go up to $15 in some states such as Alberta.

Most importantly – You do not need a job to immigrate to Canada.

Canada’s Skilled Immigration Program allows any qualified work to apply for permanent residency without securing a job offer.

Not like the USA or UK, Canada is inviting more highly skilled immigrants and has not cut down on its immigration quota.

On top of that Canada has Unemployment Insurance. Canadian residents are entitled to 60 percent of the last wages drawn in case of lay off from job.

Temporary Work Visa

If you don’t want to apply for PR then you can apply for a Temporary Work Visa. Each year over 300,000 people come to work in Canada on a Temporary Work permit.

However, you’ll need an offer of employment from a Canadian employer before the worker may be granted a Temporary Work Permit by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC).

How to Find an Employer in Canada

You can apply for jobs yourself, but easiest would be to apply via recruitment agencies.

There are several recruiting agencies which help Canadian companies hiring international talents.

If you can find an agency which is focused on your profession then it would be very easy for you.

These recruitment agencies get paid from their employers so DO NOT PAY FOR THEIR SERVICES.

Finding Companies That Hire New Immigrants

Register with your local Canadian embassy. Most international employers participate in the job fair at the embassy.

Keep an eye on skilled required by last year’s agencies. Most likely the shortage remains for a couple of years and you should be able to find a suitable employer.

If you do not have the skill which employers are looking for then take online courses. Improve your skills and apply again.

Express Entry Visa

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) launched a new electronic system called Express Entry. Canadian employers can hire Express Entry candidates to meet their labour needs when they are not able to find Canadians or permanent residents to fill job vacancies. Employers can hire workers abroad or already in Canada.

Qualified foreign workers already in Canada could include you if:

  • you are about to complete a job contract with another employer, or
  • you hold an open work permit that allows you to work for any employer in Canada

Employers can normally hire a foreign worker for up to four years.

Canada Post-Study Work Visa

Canadian Government allows international students to stay and work in Canada after graduation.

This is one of the best paths for getting permanent residency in Canada. Because work obtained through the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program may help support your application to become a permanent resident of Canada.

This is the best Post-Study work visa in comparison to USA and Australia. USA’s post-study work visa, which is called OPT, has been delayed for several months and students are struggling.

Therefore this is the best path to get work-permit in Canada.
