A Total of 506 invitations Issued by British Columbia to Apply For a Provincial Nomination

Canada is considered to be a haven for immigrants for many. It has always welcomed people from other nations with open arms. After all, the country believes that immigrants are the future of the country.

In fact, in many educational circles, it’s known as the new land of opportunities. After all, the new Canadian motto is that if you are talented in the streams Canada wants, then there’s a place for you there.

This statement makes sense since Canada sees a decrease in birth rates and a rapid increase in the retiring population. This situation has been made worse due to the pandemic. So right now, it severely lacks a working population.

Now, the only solution left for it is- to embrace immigration. So the country is striving hard to make it easier for foreign nationals to study, work, and then settle down here. One way it has been successful in doing this is through the BC PNP permanent residential draw.

This year already 506 people have been invited to apply for permanent Canadian residence status. Please read on below to know about it in greater detail.

506 Invitations Sent Out For Permanent Residence Status

On March 16, British Columbia fully issued invitations to 506 people. These people will now be able to apply for a proper provincial nomination for their permanent residence. All the candidates who were awarded these invitations got it from either the Entry Express BC (EEBC) or the Skills Immigration (SI) stream of BC PNP (British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program).

The total tally for candidates now stands at 2,432 candidates in 2021. The 506 people were selected from two different draws. One of the draws was done for NOC 0621 or specifically for the wholesale and retail trade managers.

Now, the other draw was done for foodservice and restaurant managers. It had the NOC 0631 code. The applicants who received these invitations were classified either as international graduates, skilled workers, or semi-skilled and entry-level sub-categories of EEBC and SI streams. The minimum level of the provincial score needed to score an invitation was 114.

After the draw, it was decided that 78 invitations would be sent to people who were currently working in those occupations.

How Did These 506 Candidates Get Selected Among Thousands of Others?

Since you already know that 506 people got selected at the end. So that leaves 428 more candidates. These candidates got the invitation since they had scores between 81 to 96.

This was how the point system works:

  • In the Skills Immigration stream, Skilled workers needed 96 points to score an invitation
  • In the Skills Immigration stream, International graduates needed 94 points to get an invitation
  • In the Skills Immigration stream, candidates applying from the Semi-Skilled and Entry-Level worker section needed 81 points
  • In the Express Entry BC stream, Skilled Workers needed 96 points to get an invitation
  • In the Express Entry BC stream, candidates applying from the International Graduate section needed 94 points.

What is the Express Entry BC Stream?

The Express Entry BC stream connects straight to the most used federal Express Entry immigration application management system. Here, candidates are awarded points based on human factors like education, experience, and French/English language proficiency. A candidate gets ranked in respect to these categories under the CRS or Comprehensive Ranking System.

Know that if you are a provincial nominee, you will be getting 600 additional points as part of the CRS. This will ensure that you will have a high score to propel you to get the Invitation to Apply or ITA during the Express Entry selection.

What is the BC PNP?

The BC PNP aims to attract foreign workers and laborers who are working in highly demanded B.C jobs and become permanent Canadian residents. Let’s elaborate a little more on the two kinds of immigration streams available. These are called Express Entry and Skills Immigration. Now, both of them come with sub-categories,

For example, the Skilled Immigration section has Skilled Workers, Semi-Skilled workers, and more. On the other hand, the Express Entry stream has International Graduated and a Skilled Worker section. Both these streams are under British Columbia’s SIRS or Skills Immigration Registration System.

How to Apply Using SIRS?

So if you want to apply using SIRS, you will first need to create an account. After you have completed this step, you will be given a score depending on various factors. These are- work experience, language skills, and education.

After this, only the candidates who score the highest points get invited to submit an application for the provincial nomination when British Columbia carries out its draws. If you do get an invitation, you will have to submit the completed application within 30 days. Also, it has to be done only through the online BC PNP system.

After you submit this entire application package, you will get notifications about B.C’s decision within a short window of about 2-3 months only. If you were thoroughly selected, you would be eligible to apply for the IRCC or Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada. Under this, you can apply for getting permanent residential status.

Do keep in mind that this is under the PNC or Provincial Nominee Class. Also, know that you will have a time period of only about six months to confirm this nomination.

What Is The BC PNP Tech Pilot?

Know that each week candidates get invited using the British Columbia PNP Tech Pilot. Now, this PNP is basically an immigration program, but it’s fast-tracked for the international students and the in-demand tech people. To apply for this, candidates will have to be mandatorily registered in a current provincial immigration stream of British Columbia.

Along with this, candidates need to hold a valid and current job of 12 months at the very least in any of the 29 applicable occupational of Tech Pilot.

This project began in 2017 when a study on the labor market found that one of B.C’s specific tech-sector’s most significant issue was accessing talent. As such, Tech Pilot was the solution to this. This was made to make it easy for workers who possessed the in-demand skills and talents to come to B.C. Currently, the BC PNP Tech Pilot selection brought out 95 invitees.

Many immigrant workers are always looking for ways to get permanent residence status. BC PNP is a golden opportunity for many hard-working immigrants to call Canada their home.
