Why Study in Switzerland?

You are here: Home / Blog / Why Study in Switzerland?

March 10, 2021 //  by Amit Kumar

Situated in Europe, Switzerland is home to the top-rated universities across the globe. Being ranked #1 among the fantastic places to reside in, Switzerland is heaven on earth. This guide speaks about why you need to study in Switzerland! Read on to know about the top reasons why Switzerland owns the best universities!

Table of Contents

  • Standard universities
  • Tuition fees
  • The language bonus!
  • Career opportunities
  • Quality of life
  • Safety
  • Conclusion

Standard universities

Switzerland owns the most prestigious universities around the globe. Having ranked in the top 30 list of The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, EPFL and ETH Zurich are the top 2 institutes that have gained huge popularity in the last few years. Swiss Universities offer nothing but the best class education! If you are planning to study abroad, you can never go wrong with Switzerland. Students are thoroughly happy with their brilliant performances and are incredibly pleased and grateful for their universities’ courses. If you are searching for graduate employment, go to Switzerland to receive a quality education.

Tuition fees

To be very clear, Switzerland offers an exceptional education at the cheapest possible fee in the entire continent. Although several public universities have a fee of €1,000 each year, many others charge different academic fees. It is better to go through the universities’ websites to check the accurate fees.

Tip: Who would not like to enjoy the beauty of Switzerland? Well, if you spend less on your academics, you can travel around the country! Although the cost of living is a bit high in Switzerland, it’s always better to keep some extra cash! Isn’t it?

The language bonus!

Switzerland is bounded by Italy, France, and Germany. This is another reason why the country is diverse as it speaks four different national languages. Consequently, as an international student, you can feel the countrymen to be extraordinarily courteous and welcoming. Imagine acquiring a 3-year undergraduate degree in Swiss University and learning a whole new language! Nothing but brilliant!

The main objective of Swiss institutions for accepting people worldwide is to create a better place and open up job opportunities in the entire world with diversity in language when people grasp the knowledge of German, French, or Italian.

Career opportunities

Offering the highest salaries in the entire continent, Switzerland is endowed with the largest companies with the best career opportunities for freshers and graduates. Even though it might be hard for the NON-EU students to grab a visa and reside in the country after studies, they can still live there, provided that they need to prove their capabilities for a company. Once the company finds them worthwhile, they can extend or help with their visa.

If you get a promising job under a reputed firm, you need to understand that the cost of living will be a bit high. Around 25% of the entire workforce of Switzerland includes foreign nationals. A considerable number of former international students stayed back in Switzerland after graduation as well. Well, you must be wondering why?

However, you need to know that among the top Fortune 500 businesses, 14 have their headquarters in Switzerland. This makes it the most significant concentration of Fortune 500 head offices across the globe. Additionally, reputed companies like the Adecco Group, Glencore, and Nestlé, have a compact and close business relationship with the best universities in Switzerland. This opens vast job opportunities for the graduates! Isn’t it?

And the best-paid one!

As stated above, Switzerland offers the highest average salaries to its employees in the world. In fact, the minimum wage is more than enough, or let’s say, “high.” This further means that students can work in the retail sector or the hospitality sector to start earning before completing their graduation!

Along with opening career opportunities, Switzerland owns earning potentials as well.

Quality of life

The cities of Switzerland hold great rank in offering the best lifestyle. Even though it is an expensive place to reside in, the wages are too high. In fact, it experiences the least crime in the entire continent, which is what makes it the happiest country in Europe.

Switzerland has excellent transportation facilities and has brilliant infrastructures. Who doesn’t love a country that has outstanding transportation facilities?

Apart from this, it is a diverse country. You can even enjoy the mesmerizing scenic beauty that it offers. If you are a nature lover and are incredibly fond of the outdoors, you will be happy to witness the vast greenery, lakes, the Alps, and villages.

The country is well known for its watches and chocolates!

The best part? When a country exports chocolates and cheese, you should always expect the people of that country to be the happiest!

All and all, by now you must be excited to study in Switzerland! And you should. However, the most critical question that comes is, Is the country safe? Well, let us discuss it in brief!

Safety

This is the most critical factor. However, you will be happy to hear that one of the best benefits of studying in Switzerland is that it has the lowest crime rate. It hardly experiences any violence. Additionally, it is one of the beautiful and cleanest countries in the world that offers an exceptional transport network and high-class health services.

Switzerland’s people enjoy an excellent standard of living that ranks the highest in average well-being of the global level. The Swiss government is frank, transparent, and ultimately responsible.

Any citizen of Switzerland can challenge any of the new laws. However, they require to gather 50,000 signatures in a period of 10days after the law is passed. If they gather over 50,000 signatures, it triggers the government and indicates national unity. Henceforth, either the new law is accepted or rejected based on the majority vote.

Conclusion

All and all, Switzerland is a lovely, exciting, open, and beautiful nation that welcomes and celebrates young minds. The Swiss Universities aim to dedicate their precious time to young talents for creating a better future—the urge to study better increases when students get an excellent environment. Studying in Switzerland will give you world-class education and can kickstart your career opportunities!
