Nigeria has more than 130 universities, colleges, and several other educational institutions. Most of the prestigious and oldest universities of Nigeria are handled and controlled by the federal government.

The University of Ibadan, which was found in 1948, was ranked in the best 500 universities across the globe under the QS.

The Yaba College of Technology was founded in 1934, the University of Nsukka, Nigeria, the Ahmadu Bello University, the Obafemi Awolowo University, and the University of Lagos. Each one of them is in operation straight from the 1960s.

Each of these Nigerian universities is extremely prestigious and holds years of expertise. They are known for delivering the best education facilities in Africa.

Academic culture:

The Nigerian universities are extremely great at stimulating your international opportunities. Nigeria is very eager to welcome all of the foreign candidates wishing to study abroad in any of the levels, including the graduate, undergraduate, and especially post-graduate levels.

All the university programs are conducted in the English language for clear and crisp communication inspired by the fact that Nigerian harbors their own 500 distinct languages.

Accommodation:

The best part of studying in Nigeria is that the international students have a variety of accommodation range to pick from. If you stay in a dorm on the campus or share a flat, you will get an amazing opportunity to get in touch with all the local youth. Besides, you can even make new friends.

Besides this, a home is an incredible option as well. The best part is that you can enjoy delicious and yummy homemade food with your host family along with getting treated at best.

Student visas:

Unless you belong to a country member of ECOWAS, you will require a visa for entering Nigeria and as Nigeria does not provide student visas, particularly for international candidates, you need to apply for STR. (subject to regularisation).

You can even look for the student visas in Nigeria in detail once you enter the country for more information.

Student life:

Student life in Nigeria is extremely relaxed and enjoyable. The easy mindset of students there is the most beautiful part of studying in Nigeria. The student life is even better because of the amazing vitality of the local music found there. The city’s largest features include hip hop, jazz, and soul music to create a calm atmosphere. The traditional and indigenous musicians are no less! Sports, including football are hugely practiced throughout the country.

The People:

The people of Nigeria are extremely generous, creative, witty, and hilarious. They are great talkers and hosts. Being a student or a visitor, it isn’t easy to get along and cope up with the residents of that particular place. However, if you visit Nigeria, you will find zero complaints in terms of hospitality.

The people of Nigeria are extremely friendly and open to international students and visitors. As you will find different people from different regions in Nigeria, you will love meeting them.

In some of the areas, you will see Nigerians wearing traditional clothing, namely the Sokoto, Kaba, Buba, iro, agbada, fila, gele, iboron, abeti-Aja, and the traditional beads. The ancient kingdoms, Benin Iron, Nok Terracotta, Eyo festival, artworks, bronze castings, Argungu Fishing Festival, soapstone figurines, wood carvings, Calabar Carnival, hyperrealistic paintings, etc. are only 1%of the history, art, and tradition of Nigeria. Once you visit there, you will witness diverse cultures and groups.

With so many interesting highlights and cultures, you will be left spellbound once you see Nigeria’s local authentic culture. The ambiance of Nigeria is amazing. From beautiful backyards to each of the resorts in states like Lagos, Ogun, Cross Rivers, Plateau, etc., the beauty of nature will take you to heaven. The sounds of nature and its manifestations will leave you to be spellbound!

This is why Nigerians speak different languages, including Igbo, Hausa, Ijaw, Isoko, Efik, Edo, igala, igbira, Urhobo, etc. Many international students and tourists come and try to learn and pick up the basic languages common in the area they reside. Among all, the most popular language you can learn in Nigeria is Yoruba.

One of the most important reasons people often visit Nigeria and most of the students wish to go and study in Nigeria is its culture. The level of entertainment that you are going to receive in Lagos is incredible. A few of Nigeria’s popular activities involve pop music, fuji, afro music, afro-pop, etc. During festivals and seasonal periods such as Christmas, several shows occur in Nigeria, which involves akpororo vs. akpororo and the day show. With some of the healthiest food and combinations on the entire planet, Nigeria can delight each corner of your taste bud. With continental and intercontinental reach, Nigeria has delicious restaurants and hotels that you will never find elsewhere. Make sure you look for cutting off the excess pepper if you cannot handle it!

One of the best benefits of studying in Nigeria as a student is the availability of local markets. You can immerse yourself in various markets, namely the New Market in Aba, Balogun Market in Lagos, Onitsha Main market. If you’re looking for an exquisite local market and in search of beautiful fabrics, clothing items, groceries, etc., you can never go wrong with these markets. Be it electronic gadgets, craftworks, or any haggling spar; you will find an impeccable sense of products and services in the local markets once you navigate it.

High income in Nigerian families:

Looking at the booming rate of income in Nigerian families is why they are capable of investing in students to complete their study abroad dreams. This, in turn, means Nigeria has a great economy in terms of job and income.
