Here are the reasons why to pursue doctoral studies in Canada:

Academic excellence

One of the primary reasons students choose to pursue doctoral studies in Canada is a high-quality educational system. When a student earns a doctoral degree from a Canadian university, it is a mark of excellence and trust. Twenty-seven of Canada’s universities in ‘The World University Rankings 2019’ and 26 of them in ‘The QS World University Rankings 2019’.

Ample research opportunities

Another big reason why Canadian education stands apart is its strong focus on R&D, i.e., Research and development. There is no country better than Canada if you want to pursue doctoral studies. Canada’s Government offers excellent support to research in technology, environmental science, agriculture, telecommunication, and medicine.

Research is the most critical component of a doctoral studies student. Many scholarships are given to students for their research works, and in this way, the universities support the students who come out with the best research ideas.

Students can research in any field they like with the aid of lecturers in the university. Governments and industries come forward to accept the cost of the research if the idea is good. Thus, higher education in Canada opens up many scholars and researchers to draw upon their knowledge in several disciplines.

Affordable

Compared to universities in the United Kingdom and the United States of America, tuition fees in Canada are relatively cheaper. Talking specifically about Indian students is a viable option due to the ROI, i.e., the return on investment. Also, there are various scholarships available for cutting down on your educational expenses.

Cultural diversity

You will find extremely welcoming and warm people from varied ethnic groups with different lifestyles and cultures in Canada. The multicultural environment in Canada promotes peaceful living and friendliness like no other nation. You will find a lot of doctoral students living, working, and studying there. You can also experience rituals and festivals like:

  • Experience ‘Poutine Week’ – The blend of cheese curd, delicious gravy, and French fries.
  • NHL Hockey
  • Calgary Stampede
  • The Montreal International Jazz Festival

French and English are Canada’s official languages, and it is a multilingual country with many cultures, religions, and languages. It will be an excellent exposure for the students to learn those languages, and students will be surrounded by several people speaking different languages. There won’t be any problems of colour and race even though it is a mixed society.

Safe and peaceful

This nation has been consistently ranked as one of the safest countries in the world. The Global Peace Index of 2018 rated Canada as the 6th most peaceful country in the world. As an international student, you will enjoy the same rights as any other Canadian resident.

The universities and Government play a key role in students’ safety across the country and inside the university. Starting from security to health care, necessary measures will be taken to keep students safe.

Earn while you learn

Thanks to its special regulations, Canada provides all its international students with an opportunity to work full-time during the summer and winter breaks and 20 hours every week during their semesters. To work as an intern or on-campus in any institution, you wouldn’t require any extra work permit as your study permit is enough to help you find a part-time job.

Lively and vibrant campus life

At all Canadian campuses, you can expect activities such as fests and events being conducted all over the year. This creates a lively and happy environment for all the students pursuing doctoral studies, meeting new people, and helps you network besides keeping the homesickness away.

Immigration opportunities

PWPP of Canada, i.e., Post-Graduation Work Permit Program of Canada, allows students who are pursuing doctoral studies to work and stay in Canada for up to 3 years after completing their graduation. You can earn some international work experience and later on apply for permanent residency.

Weather

Canada experiences a freezing winter and warm summer each year. The temperature rises to a maximum of 30° C during the summer season. Doctoral studies students from hot countries such as India will feel warm this season.

But during the winter season, the temperature changes upside down and reaches a minimum of -20° C. Most people stay indoors due to the snowstorms and snowfall as the snow gets accumulated to a height of up to 5 m – 6 m.

Autumn is the best and the most beautiful season in Canada. In this season, the leaves of almost all the trees start to turn red and orange, which is a lovely sight to watch.

Values and culture

Every year, Canada’s Government invites thousands and lacs of immigrants worldwide to apply for higher education in Canada.

It has become a home for several students who come here for higher education as old immigrants, and people treat new immigrants and students with much warmth.

Canada ensures that people’s traditions and customs are preserved and that people’s dignity and value are respected.

Incredible bachelor’s degree

This country has a wide variety of excellent study options. The problem does not lie in finding the appropriate course. The problem lies in selecting one right course among so many exciting options.

If you enrol your name in a bachelor’s program in Canada, it straight away means you are opening doors for an incredible academic adventure. In Canada, each of the universities appreciates and motivates innovation, curiosity, and high research. Any student who has unbeatable talents and capabilities apart from academics is welcome to the Canadian Universities. Few of the most preferred degrees in Canada are,

  • Bachelor’s of engineering
  • Bachelor’s of business administration
  • Bachelor’s in film, photography, and media
  • Bachelor’s in environmental sciences
  • Bachelor’s of computer science

Visa

One of the most important reasons you should opt for studying in Canada is to grab a Visa! Sounds great, right? Canada is evolving endlessly with the growing number of international students taking admissions in its great universities. This is because the country is quite transparent and offers an accessible visa application procedure to international students. To apply in the stream of a bachelor’s degree at Canadian University, you will need to visit the program’s application page.

Consequently, you’ll be asked to submit your necessary documents, and there you go! However, keep in mind that this can happen only after you get admission to a Canadian university. Once you secure a place in the university, you can apply for a student visa in Canada.

Excellent Government!

Well, Canada has reached all the heights of being progressive. It is hugely influenced by young citizens that aim for the betterment of the entire country. Recently, legalizing marijuana, supporting gay rights, and breaking all the taboos, the Canadian Government is winning hearts. Each gender is treated equally in Canada even though you are a Canadian or a non-Canadian. With such remarkable leadership, there are absolutely no second thoughts on why Canada is becoming the centre of attraction for many young students in terms of higher education.

Conclusion

If you plan to pursue doctoral studies in Canada, you are making the right choice as Canada is the most educated nation globally, with more than 50% of its population having college degrees.

The cherry on the top: You will find many students like you as this country is a host to more than 5 million international students.
