Why Foreign Students Choose Turkey for Abroad Education?

You are here: Home / Blog / Why Foreign Students Choose Turkey for Abroad Education?

July 29, 2019 //  by Amit Kumar

Turkey is an excellent choice, for those who want to study in the atmosphere of great historical importance and culture and the Universities provide students with the necessary skills and confidence which is required in this fast-paced world.

According to statistics, there are 148,000 students currently pursuing their higher education inside Turkish institutions according to the Presidency for Turks and Abroad and Related Communities (YTB).

Turkish Universities are very generous when it comes to providing fully-funded scholarships to the International students from the under-developed and developed nations including Africa, Balkans, and Asia.

Turkish Universities provided fully funded scholarships to over 25,000 students for over 10 years and the number has been increased by 75% since then and is expected to increase more in the future. It has also flexible rules and regulations when it comes to permits and working inside Turkey.

That is only because of the outstanding higher education facilities provided by Turkish institutions, most students prefer Turkey over the US and the UK. There are other factors due to which students choose Turkey.

Table of Contents

  • Some of them are listed below :
  • 1.    Rich Culture and History:
  • 2.    Affordable education:
  • 3.    Fast Residence Permit:
  • 4.    Short travel between countries:
  • 5.    Non-governmental Funding:

Some of them are listed below :

1.    Rich Culture and History:

Turkey’s rich culture has made it an attraction to those, who want to explore the ancient history of ottoman and Mesopotamia rule as well as to get educated in a modern environment.

2.    Affordable education:

It is a fair deal for those who are on a strict budget. On average, International students spend 400 to 550 USD on clothes, living, accommodation, telephone, and transportation and100 to 150 USD on administrative costs per semester.

Students may get an exemption from these expenses too, as they can appeal to many private organizations or government to cover those expenses too.

3.    Fast Residence Permit:

Turkey is a Muslim country, and a large number of international students come from under-developed Muslim countries.

They have issued residence permits which are valid for the period of 1 year to 3 years. It is renewed 2 times throughout the semester and the students have to work in Turkey after 1 year. By having this permit, it makes them eligible to travel to 111 Russian states. It is an excellent efficient way for international students, to leverage the power of the state for their leisure.

The government has created a system by which those students will face less difficulty in moving throughout the country during their stay, including students from non-Muslim countries.

4.    Short travel between countries:

Flight expenses from Asian countries towards Turkey are much less than that it is for the US and UK. So, students from Asian countries can afford coming back to the home country for more than one time throughout the semester.

5.    Non-governmental Funding:

In Turkey, students were considered as a tourist. But now the perception is changed, and many private organizations are helping foreign students by paying their expenses and providing them with dormitories and other facilities. It is an effort of Turkish locals to create a good impression on International Students.
