University of British Columbia

Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must have to meet the following eligibility criteria:
- The applicant must be an international student.
- The applicant must enter UBC from a recognized high school or transfer from your first year to a post-secondary college or other universities.
- The applicant must be applying for your first undergraduate degree.
- The applicant must comply with the UBC admission criteria, including the general and graduate-specific requirements and the English Language Admission Level.
- The applicant must demonstrate superior academic achievement (achieve all As or equivalent standard).
- The applicant must show a level of financial need that would otherwise preclude you from obtaining a degree in UBC.
- The applicant must graduate or have recently graduated from a recognized high school.
- The applicant must come from a war-torn, politically troubled or economically deprived part of the world.
- The applicant must have obtained academic excellence in challenging conditions and have no financial means from family or other sources to pursue secondary education in your own country or outside your country.
- The applicant must begin his undergraduate studies at UBC in the UBC Vantage One programs.

- There are three scholarship awards available.
- The worth of your Karen McKellin International Tomorrow Award Leader is commensurate with your financial needs. Financial needs are determined by comprehensive education, tuition, and living expenses, and by subtracting the financial contribution that you and your family will make each year.
- The value of your Donald A. Wehrung Foreign Student Award is commensurate with your demonstrated financial need and adequate to cover the cost of living and schooling for your degree.
- The Vantage One Excellence Award is priced at the full cost of the student’s academic programs and living expenses. The grants of each award depend on the financial needs of the recipient.
How to Apply for the Scholarship
For applying to theses scholarship, candidates are needed to follow these steps:
Step 1: Apply for Admission
You will be eligible for this scholarship shortly after you obtain an offer of admission to UBC. Each year, scholarship decisions are taken between January and the end of mid-March.
Step 2: Apply for a Scholarship
To apply for awards, submit your award application and complete the online application for admission to UBC by 5 January 2021.

Entry Requirements
- Candidate must meet the general country/study curriculum entry requirement.
- You must demonstrate English language skills and meet the general admission criteria following the country/curriculum in which you studied.
- The students must have a high school diploma.
- Transcript of High School & University.
- The student must possess a certificate of proficiency in English.
- The student must comply with the general country-specific entry criteria.
Visa Requirements
The “Student Authorization” (Student Visa) is required to enter Canada. Apply to the nearest Canadian Consular or Immigration Office as soon as you receive an official letter of acceptance from the Faculty of masters and Postdoctoral Studies; it could take 8 to 10 weeks for processing; it may take six months for students applying from the People’s Republic of China.
