UK Government is Going to Start Fast Track Visa Scheme for Top Researchers

The United Kingdom is changing rules and regulations regarding international study in the UK to attract more researchers and students seeking higher education. A new fast track visa system will be implemented later this year, which will streamline the process of visa for students making it less strict.

This route is designed to gather elite researchers belonging from different fields such as science, maths, engineering, and technology from around the world, and to optimize the process of research work and technological development in the institutes offering higher education in the UK.

The government has set several different goals and options regarding this scheme, and it is in contact with universities and institutions streamline the process of admission.

To achieve this government has decided to provide UK researchers with grants summing up to 600 million pounds and abolishing limitations placed on Tier 1 exceptional talent visa. It will result in expanding the pool of universities and institutes and will make them able to endorse more international researchers.

Also, now international students don’t have to show employment offer while applying for Visa, and it is easier to settle in the UK with having full access to the job market for dependent individuals.

The UK is now providing more funds to attract researchers who sought funding from the EU before it leaves European union and if it leaves without any deal, UK will automatically consider reviewing pending applications received for horizon 2020.

UUKi Director Vivienne Stern appreciated the announcement and said she is looking forward to making the country a global leader in the world of science and technology while keeping it an attractive opportunity for new researchers.

Senior political analyst Hollier Chandler Russell Group welcomed and appreciated this new fast route of visa plan. According to him, the organization will seek to support researchers and its related parties in all disciplines and careers as many researchers spend life-time in creating something remarkable.

As highlighted in the report, favorable visa conditions will make it easy for researchers to focus and spend time creating something capable of achieving them remarkable advancement in their field. Meanwhile, the country will be able to retain talented researchers, which will improve the economic status of the country in the long run.

In the report, three areas were mentioned where they could face challenges after Brexit. These included funding, recruitment, and retention of researchers, and maintaining collaboration with European networks, which is quite hard for the UK after leaving the European Union.

It was indicated in the report that post Brexit decisions shouldn’t hinder the ability of the UK in terms of recruitment and retention of international students as well as amending immigration laws to support their families when they arrive in the UK.

Apart from that, the report concluded that the UK will not contribute more funding to the EU research plot as it does now.
