Why Study Science Courses?

Science assists us in comprehending the world around us. All we know about the universe is the product of scientific study and observation, from how trees reproduce to what an atom makes. Science has been a significant driver of human development throughout history.

Science is a vast topic with a tremendous amount of knowledge to sift through. One of the advantages of studying science is that it has a fast-paced nature of discovery and growth, which can be exciting, particularly in a department that focuses on research.

Learning science has practical benefits in addition to future scientific breakthroughs, such as improving our ability to ask questions, gather knowledge, organize and test our hypotheses, solve problems, and apply what we learn.

Science Literacy Course

Science Literacy will teach you how to think critically, distinguish science from pseudoscience, use indigenous knowledge to educate science, understand and plan a research analysis, and critically analyze scientific communication in the media. Every module will use real-life examples to develop your new skill set, and at the end of each module, you will require to apply these skills to science problems, talking points, and global controversies. This course necessitates an open mind and the opportunity to focus on oneself.

Particle Physics: an Introduction

This course will introduce you to subatomic physics, which is studying nuclei and particles at the atomic level. The course is structured in eight modules. Following the first one which introduces our subject, the modules 2 (nuclear physics) and 3 (accelerators and detectors) are rather self contained and can be studied separately. The modules 4 to 6 go into more depth about matter and forces as described by the standard model of particle physics. Module 7 deals with our ways to search for new phenomena. And the last module introduces you to two mysterious components of the universe, namely Dark Matter and Dark Energy.
