Top Brainteaser Questions

Brainteaser questions are an example of a puzzle that usually requires unconventional thinking to solve. These kinds of questions were first introduced to us as early as our childhood. Moreover, we can say that our teachers used to ask such questions as fun activities in school to help children sharpen their minds. Brain teasers also help to have a fun experience with their classmates.

Brain teasers are not enjoyed only by adults but also by children. Adults usually play these teaser questions with friends on office team buildings or nights just for fun. Different types of brain teaser questions exist, such as riddles, puzzles, illusions, and anagrams. Brain questions have become so popular these days even you can find answers on the internet.

Examples of brain teaser questions are as follows:

Is there any bank that does not have money?

-Total how many golf bags can fit into Boeing 747?

-What contains a bed but never sleeps?

Brain questions help to keep your mind sharp:

When you normally do exercise, your brain is busy solving different kinds of questions. It gives you the ability to think carefully, and it’s just like working out.

How can people prepare for answering brain teaser questions?

The key to answering brain teaser questions lies in breaking down large and tough questions into specific types, each preparing accordingly.

Most brain teasers can be identified into seven types, including illusion brain teasers, wording brain teasers, logical brainteasers, letter brick brain teasers, and draw explanation brain teasers.

Let’s have a look at some illusion brain teasers and some questions.

1)Illusion brain teaser questions with answers:

These types of questions force you to draw wrong answers by forcing your attention towards misleading and insignificant details.

Therefore, if you want to save yourself from this kind of trap, pay attention to every small detail of the question, and you will be more likely to notice important details.

Bochy’s mother has four children, and one’s name is April. The second one is may, and the third one is June. What is the name of forth?

The correct answer is Bochy, but your mind forces you to say July following the month order.

2)Draw explanation-based teaser questions with answers

This type of question helps you give weird and impossible situations and then asks you to elaborate on that situation.

For answering draw explanation-based brain teaser questions, you need to be very creative and imaginative also. You don’t need to be afraid of delivering or answering weird questions and don’t worry; maybe your answered question doesn’t fit well with the universe.

Example:

Consider a man lying dead in the middle of the jungle, in the middle of the puddle, in a scuba suit, and how he got died?

The answer is a tornado sucked him up and then threw it into the forest.

3)Wording based brain teaser questions:

These types of brain teaser questions confuse a person by using conflicting words to create inexplicable scenarios. The key to answering wording-based questions is to doubt the first interpretation of the word in question and then actively find other meanings to make the scenario difficult to understand.

The question is you walk across the bridge, and suddenly you see a boat full of people, and there is not a single person on the boat. Is this possible?

Single is a tricky word, and the answer is they all are married.

Make one word from these jumbled letters A I E O U.

Which thing in this world has four legs and only one foot?

What kind of words holds the most letters when they are combined?

4)Trend and pattern-based brain teaser questions:

Pattern-based brain teaser questions present data following certain trends and patterns that demand you to fill in the blanks.

If you are asked such questions, try to make different angles and trends as soon as possible and check if those patterns fill into the data.

Two more important points that you should keep in mind are that not all are true and it’s fine to come with an entirely different thing and different from the interviewer’s mind as long as it works.

What is next in a series of 11, 22, 33, 44, ……?

The next fitting answer is 55 as you look at the above pattern, you will see that add the first 11 +11 =22, then 22+11=33, 33+11=44,44+11=55, 55+11=66, and so on.

What is the next letter in the following series I, J, K, L, M……?

What is the next number in sequence EAT, BEAT, REPEAT….?

5)Logic-based brain teaser questions:

Logical brain teaser questions don’t contain any creativity, illusions, or tricks. But to answer this type of question, you have to rely on your brain’s long muscles.

Let’s have a look at an example of a logic-based teaser question:

You are given the choice of two doors one leads to freedom, and the other takes you to death. Each door also has one security guard with one is always lying on the ground, and the other is always telling the truth. But the tricky part is you don’t know which door is which one!

With just one request to one of the doors, you can find freedom, but how?

The answer is simple, and it is, please show me the door the other guard would lead too, especially If I request for the door of freedom. Moreover, both guards will point you to the door of death so that one will go for the other door.

Here is the logic of the above-stated question:

The truthful guard shows that what ing would do, and so he will point you to the death door.

While on the other hand, the lying guard will show you the opposite of what the truthful one can do.

The truthful guard shows the freedom door, so he put his finger towards the death door instead.

Moreover, to help you brush your problem-solving capabilities, we have piled up different kinds of brain teaser questions. Hiring managers have more interest in candidates than people who have problems solving skills.

6) Letter trick-based brain teaser questions with answers:

These tricky brain questions often play with composition, organization, and demonstration of letters to elaborate on the meaning of a phrase or word.

What does this letter tricky question represent COF FEE?

So, the true answer is a COFFEE break.

What does this mean in particular question means CCCCCC?

7)Guestimate and Market Sizing questions?

The question is how many of the ping pong balls can you fit into the Boeing 747?

Marketing Sizing or guestimate question asks you to estimate an absolute number when that number represents the market’s size, and it is called a market sizing question.

The emphasis in such type of questions is to apply a structured approach instead of thinking you out of the box. You can conclude the answer to such questions by breaking down the complex problem into smaller chunks of information, estimate each piece, and then combine for a final answer.

These guestimate and market sizing questions are popular to warrant a separate guide.

Brainteaser questions by tech giants:

The silicon tech company is also famous for asking various types of brain teaser questions. So, after spending the day with Glassdoor.com and a few other sites, we have some interesting and hardest logical interviewer questions. Therefore, we are going to look at four tech giants known for asking hard questions.

1-Google

2-Facebook

3-LinkedIn

4-Apple

Brainteaser questions asked by Facebook:

A Russian kidnapper kidnaps you and then puts two bullets in a sequence order in an empty round revolver. He then spins it, points at your head, and shoots. He clicks, but you are still alive. The kidnapper then asks, do you want me to spin this again and pull the trigger in another way? No answer for each of the available options, what is the probability that you will be shoot?

The answer is there is the possibility that bullet is loaded adjacent to each other. There are four possible mechanisms to arrange the revolver with bullets in sequence so that the first shoot is always blank.

There are 4 scenarios xBBxxx, xxBBxx, xxxBBx and xxxxBB. If you look carefully at four possible scenarios, your chances of getting shot are only ¼ or 25 per cent. But if the Russian kidnapper spin again then are fewer chances for six total slots and two bullets remaining 2/6 which means 33 per cent.

Google brain teaser interview questions:

Question No, 1:

You have two jugs, one is 3 gallons, and another one is 5 gallons. How will you end up with a measurement of 4 gallons?

You know that we can’t measure properly in a 3-gallon jug as it will overflow. We need to do the measurement of 4 gallons using a 5-gallon jug.

First of all, you need a 3-gallon jug, and then you will pour 3 gallons probably into a 5-gallon jug, and after that 3-gallon jag will be empty. Now you will notice 5-gallon jug has 3 gallons. Now fill the 3-gallon jug again and pour it into the 5-gallon jug carefully. Now only 2 gallons will fill because it already consists of 3 gallons. Now it is full, and you are left with 1 gallon in the 3-gallon jug.

Now you need to dump out the 5-gallon jug and pour 1 gallon lately into the 5-gallon jug.

One last time fill up a 3-gallon jug one more time and pour it finally into a 5-gallon jug. Ultimately, you will be left with a 4-gallon jug.

Question No, 2:

Why are the holes of the manhole round?

The good news for you is that if you are bored with math questions, this will be a break.

Manhole is considered round because it is the only existing shape that can’t fall through itself. Manhole covers cannot accidentally fall down the hole, and google is also asking such types of questions now.

Brainteaser questions by Apple:

Suppose that there are three boxes. Box 1 contains apples, box 2 contains oranges, and box 3 contains both apples and oranges. Boxes also have been incorrectly labelled so that it is not possible to identify each box’s contents. You have permission to take one box out of the label and take one fruit out you can predict about others in the same box correctly?

The answer is you may know all labels are not correct. Since all the labels are wrong, try to go to labels Apples + Oranges, then it must have either one or another. This is the box from which you can take one piece of fruit. So, the scheme is if you take one apple only, all remaining will be apples and the same goes for oranges.

Using this trick, you can find out.

Tips and Trick to deal with Brainteaser questions:

Here we have four tips using them; you can improve your brain teaser performance.

1)First of all, use pen and paper and write down both the question and answer. Then point to the note as you speak, and it helps you save a lot of brainpower as you don’t have to recall every bit of information. Moreover, it also requires to take visual aid because both you and the interviewer can follow the content.

2)When dealing with draw explanation, illusion, and brain teaser questions, your first intuition is always wrong.  The approach to each type of such question is different, and you may also need to self-aware of such traps.

3)Wording and draw explanation questions are always based on being unconventional. Common interpretations are always shortcuts used to explain situations and solve problems. Whenever your brain says that it is impossible to answer this question, ignore that notion and continue doing an effort.

4)Don’t be afraid of giving the wrong answer, stay calm and give the answer with a smile. Brain teasers involve a constant thinking process and help you handle different situations in high-pressure contexts and high-stake conditions.

Final Verdict:

Therefore, whenever you do regular brain teasers, it challenges the brain to look at things differently. Your brain learns how to think quickly and solve real-life dilemmas effectively.
