In this digital era, almost all high school and college students have access to smartphones and electronic gadgets. Among fun apps available on both Android and Apple platforms there are also present a huge amount of educational apps for students’ facility.

These apps have made students life easier by giving them online availability of notes, planning their schedules, keeping them safe and letting them collaborate with students community around the world.

EasyBib (Free, Android – iOS)

Easybib is a great gift for students who are not fond of putting efforts into citation styles. The decade-old app provides beneficial features like note taking, citation guides, saving plus sharing papers, and research tools.

The app provides an academic reference for a book by simply typing its title or scanning its barcode. As different institutes have their own set of citation reference styles; the app caters this part by giving the options of various referencing styles like MLA, CMS, APA, Chicago, etc. All the citations have been double checked by the teachers and librarians.

StudyBlue (Free, Android- iOS)

One of the commonly used revision app by students is StudyBlue. The app has over 15 million registered members who can upload and share study materials, create and practice quizzes, go through recommended content from class fellows, set reminders and keep a track of their progress.

This app provides an additional interesting flashcards feature which uses course information to build a combination of cards sets for revision.

myHomework Student Planner  (Free, Android- iOS- Windows)

As the name suggests this app is a digital planner made for students to ensure their good performance with the help of useful features like reminders for assignments, quizzes and homework, tracking of class schedule, setting high, medium or low priority for different tasks and, organizing daily routine.

This user-friendly app free version is available on many platforms along with a premium version which gives extra services like file attachment, various themes and external calendars integration.

Oxford Dictionary (Free, Android – iOS)

Another extremely useful app for the students is the Oxford Dictionary mobile version. It is made user-friendly with simple interface functionality. Type whatever word you want to explore in the search tab and get the detailed definition instantly.

The application also provides audio pronunciations for both British and American variant words.

Office Lens (Free, Android – iOS -Windows)

Office Lens app is for the students who don’t trust their memory enough and like to capture images of documents in order to have the material in a soft copy form. It is kind of a scanner installed in mobile or tablet which can click pictures of a business card, magazines, whiteboard, blackboard, notes, receipt, and handwritten documents and transforms them into texts that are both shareable and editable.

The useful app automatically crops the background and saves the image as PowerPoint, PDF or Word file.

Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock (Free, Android – iOS)

Sleep deprivation is quite common among students, especially college students. Good night sleep is very important not only for healthy being but also for an active productive mind. This app monitors your sleep cycle with the help of a microphone and wakes you up when you are in the lightest sleep phase. It also keeps track of your rest time through accelerometer which observes your body movement.

The application is also available in a premium version with additional features like snore detection and heart rate tracking.

GoConqr (Free, Android – iOS)

Revision for students has also been made easy through another application known as “GoConqr”. As the name predicts it lets you conquer your respective course with the help of various educational resources it provides in the form of mind maps, notes, quizzes, slides, revision charts, and flashcards.

It also gives the opportunity to connect with your fellow students and collaborate with students around the world.

Evernote (Free, Android – iOS – Windows)

Evernote is available freely on multiple platforms and is among the popular apps used by students for organizing their notes in various formats such as texts, PDFs, images, videos and, audios with the help of their registered account.

The app also allows you to sync notes with fellow students and search through their notes as well. The premium version of Evernote provides extra 1 GB uploading each month along with email storage and offline accessibility.

SimpleMind (Free, Android – iOS)

This exciting application is valuable for students who are challenged with various course projects. The app helps by visually mapping a task so that one understands the dos and don’ts of the project. There is a facility to start from ground zero or using some of the added layouts to form a mind map.

The app premium version facilitates the students by generating new ideas with the help of great features like sharing and printing voice memo. One can also add photos and video links to the maps and share them with friends through Google Drive and Dropbox.

Circle of Six (Free, Android – iOS )

Students will feel much safer on and off campus with the installation of this great application on their smartphones. The app uses the GPS system to track your location and lets you add six of your trusted friends’ contact numbers. If a student is feeling unsafe or wants to be tracked all the time by the closed ones; this app is the one for them.
