The University of South Wales is Launching a New Pathway College

The University of South Wales (USW) has announced that it will offer an International Pathway College at its Cardiff and Pontypridd campuses in collaboration with QA Higher Education (QAHE).

Students who need to improve their English-language ability and academic study skills will benefit from the pathway and English-language programmes, which will provide assured advancement routes into commerce, electronics, engineering, and creative industries, with applied science and sports science to follow at a later date.

With collaborations in place with Northumbria University, University of Roehampton, and Solent University, as well as other Higher Education partnerships with Ulster University, Middlesex University, and London Metropolitan University, QAHE is well-established in the international pathways sector.

It has broad international recruiting and marketing capabilities, as well as a vast network of international members and a track record of academic advancement with its university partners. The first class of students will begin in the autumn of 2021.

“I’m pleased that the University of South Wales has been able to secure this collaboration with QAHE, which has a track record of providing similar provision to international students at a variety of UK institutions,” said Professor Julie Lydon, USW Vice-Chancellor.

“By recognising the needs of a broader group of international students and providing them with the resources they need to succeed, we can further boost our credibility as a global organisation with world-class credentials.

“At USW, we have a long history of delivering world-class education to students from all over the world, and we will draw on that knowledge to ensure that these comprehensive programmes offer a world-class education to the next generation of students.”

USW has made expanding its international presence a strategic priority. The collaboration will help to future-proof the University against the impacts of Brexit and an increasingly competitive international market, as well as facilitating the delivery of the University’s overall internationalisation strategy. It will also increase diversity within the international cohort and provide a new channel of recruitment.

“We are excited to be partnering with University of South Wales on this new collaboration, which will provide expanded subject and location options for International students across the QAHE portfolio of partners and courses,” said Julie Noone, Chief Executive of QAHE. USW has big international aspirations, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with a new partner who shares those goals.

The campuses and subject offerings are exceptional and highly appealing to international students.”
