The University of Manchester UK is Celebrating Diversity Improvement

You are here: Home / News / The University of Manchester UK is Celebrating Diversity Improvement

November 22, 2019 //  by Amit Kumar

The University of Manchester aims at enabling all its students to fulfil their ambitions through its outreach programmes. It has collaborated with numerous other higher education institutions to work for social cohesion and attract students from diverse backgrounds.

The pupils, as well as the faculty members, are encouraged to have no barriers to knowledge. The Access and Participation Plan 2020/21-2024/25 shall impart higher education to under-represented groups so that they can attain their personal as well as professional goals.

The University of Manchester is renowned for its versatility and amenities which enable the students of underprivileged classes to seek education there. The professional courses offered by the University allow students to enhance their career opportunities.

There are proper facilities for international students so that they can feel safe and comfortable within the campus.

The Office for Students (OFS) oversees the APPs so that all these plans can be implemented with the stipulated time. Widening participation work of the University shall involve classifying the geographical areas based on the proportion of people who advance to higher education.

This methodology is known as POLAR (Participation of Local Areas). Its objective is to reduce the disparity of degree attainment between white and black students, physically challenged students and students with no disability, White and Asian students and finally, the most and least advantaged according to the Indices of Multiple Deprivation (IMD).

The Pre-16 program entails the expansion of higher education opportunities by maximizing the reach of the plans. It also aims at elevating the inclination of the students to pursue higher education.

The first programme includes having a new website, initiating activities related to awareness and different schemes and initiatives for supporting year five and year six students. The summer school involves activities of residential students for year ten and year 12.

The Post-16 program involves rewarding the best students, depending on their potential and merit. It also entails a plan which aids such adults who are returning to education. The University has witnessed the impact of these education-based programmes as Manchester University North is now supporting 1241 pupils.

The successful graduate program aims to train individuals to be capable and be identified for their skills and professionalism worldwide. The career services are based on boosting the employability of the students so that they can gain ideas about skills that are relevant in the industry of their interest.

All the programmes are successfully attracting students and fulfilling their purpose of enhancing the diversity of the University. The University of Manchester is solving a variety of issues related to higher education, thereby facilitating people from all socio-economic backgrounds to seek higher education and pick their areas of interest.

It is offering skill-based training which enables the pupils to acquire skills that are essential for their professions. It encourages students to take initiatives to come up and participate in numerous activities for their overall betterment and progress. Therefore, the University of Manchester is successfully implementing its Diversity Improvement programs and helping its students to excel in every field.
