Students who are from STEAM-related field, for them the Ocean Park is delighted to offer its STEAM Student Competition to propose creative solutions to animal conservation issues. Primary and secondary school students from all around the world can become a participant in this contest.
All participants have the opportunity to take part in animal conservation work to improve animals’ living environment, quality of life and welfare. Aspirants will also gain valuable hands-on experience and become next-generation “makers”.
Hurry Up!! Take part in this contest as early as possible because the deadline is approaching nearly.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this competition, the candidates must follow the given criteria:
- Maximum of 2 teams from each school.
- A maximum of 5 students in each team and each student can only be in 1 team.
- At least 1 supervising teacher from each school.
- Top 5 schools in each topic of the First Round Assessment will be selected to enter the Final Round Presentation.
Participants Requirement
- The theme of the competition is “Innovation for Animals”.
- Participants will be assigned their respective topics depending on their levels.
- For Primary Level (P.1 – P.6):
The topic is “Red-handed Tamarin”.
Participants have to design environmental enrichments for red-handed tamarin. - For Secondary Level (S.1 – S.6):
The topic is “Green Sea Turtle”.
Participants have to design environmental enrichments for green sea turtle.
Application Process
- Fill in the Online Application Form.
- Prepare a Project Proposal on your respective competition topic:
- Project Proposal (Maximum 3 A4 pages)
- The project proposal should be written in Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese or English
- Project Proposal written in Chinese should also include a Title in English
- The content of the Project Proposal must include:
- A literature review or background research on the animal in your respective topic;
- The objective of your environmental enrichment; and
- Three conceptual designs of environmental enrichments capable of achieving the aforementioned objective.
- Please download the “Template for Project Proposal” (TBC) from the website. Please format your proposal using this template setting. Please do not change any document, paragraph, style or style name setting.
- The finalized Project Proposal should be saved as an MS WORD document named in the format “School Name_Project Proposal Title”, and be submitted through our online submission system.
