Germany is one of the most wanted destinations for International students worldwide. Studying in Germany is like a dream come true for Indian students. Thousands of international students apply every year to study in Germany and get a high-quality education. German colleges and universities are globally ranked and who don’t want to be part of it.

There are many research-based courses, award-winning curriculums, and numerous funding options in Germany for Students. They have an exclusive lifestyle with a lively student community to give to the international students for best studying experience.  If you want to improve your academic and research capacity the studying in Germany is the best choice.

University Choice

The most important part is to choose a university to study in Germany. There are almost 2000 programs available and in which 1389 programs are in English. Yes, you understood correctly, the chance to study in English in Germany is very limited at the undergraduate level. Still, there are few courses that are in both English and German. Check the universities which are considered in the latest ranking of the top universities.

University Requirements for Indian Student

Documents required to be submitted by Indian students for a bachelor degree in Germany are the following:

  • Transcript of Grades
  • Entrance Qualification
  • Proof of Language Proficiency
  • Valid Passport
  • Letter of motivational (not mandatory)

If you have planned to study in Germany then first chose the college or university you want to opt for and check the entrance requirement of that college’s website. Entry requirement changes from university to university and as per the course you want to do. For any query, contact the university through the email id provided. Read all the requirements carefully and complete them.

German Student Visa

To study in Germany, you have to apply for the visa beforehand. Once you received the admission letter from college, go to the German Embassy and apply for Visa. The officers will give a list of documents required to apply for Visa. One of the most essential documents is German Blocked Account Confirmation Letter which shows that you are financially secured and can live in Germany as an International student.

Block account is a bank account which is to be opened in the bank; it is required for all International students to confirm the financial resources to live in Germany during their student visa. At present, you need to at least deposit €8,700 in the blocked account to get the visa approved. Health Insurance is also a mandate for India Students.

It will cover all medical needs when in Germany. English and German knowledge are must for students as the subjects will be taught in these languages. Majority of the undergraduate courses are in the German language. To show proof of language proficiency, some test score needs to be submitted.

  • TOEFL and IELTS – English language
  • TestDaf and Goethe Institute German Language Diploma (GDS) – German language.

Finance Requirement

There is no or say minimal tuition fees in Germany which don’t mean that the place is cheap in terms of cost of living. But yes you can make your resources in a way that makes your financial life much easier along with study. The most important one is the accommodation.

Try to search for accommodation before landing in Germany. Take online help or help from someone who is already staying there. Sharing the room or apartment is also a better idea. If you don’t know anyone there, then take advantage of online forums for Indian students in Germany. Once the accommodation is finalized, get it registered as it is required to be submitted a copy at the university.

Working Opportunity and Scholarships

To manage the expenses of study, one can also opt for a part-time job. German allows its international students to work up to 20 hours a week to cover the expenses of their studies. Germany also has good scholarship options as well for foreign students. So, if you are talented, then don’t miss this opportunity.
