About Belarus

Belarus is a primarily mountainous lowland with woods, wetlands, and numerous rivers and lakes.

Several rivers flow into the Baltic and Black oceans.

Belarus is bounded on five sides by Latvia to the north, Lithuania to the northwest, Poland to the west, Russia to the north and east, and Ukraine to the south.

The majority of Belarus’s economy is still state-controlled and has been defined as “Soviet-style.”

Belarus, a former Soviet republic, is situated in Eastern Europe, between Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Latvia, and Lithuania.

Belarus, which is slightly smaller than the state of Kansas, has been an independent country since 1990 and has around 9.5 million people.

The nation, whose central city is Minsk, is well-known for its many lakes (almost 11,000 in number), huge forests, and textiles.

Climate

Winters in Belarus are bitterly cold, and summers are cool and humid. The country’s climate varies slightly.

The majority faith is Eastern Orthodox; however, there is a sizable Roman Catholic minority. The majority of Belarusians are bilingual (Russian and Belarusian).

Student Visas

Applicants for a student visa must submit a passport with at least six months validity beyond the intended travel date, the completed visa application form, two 2″ by 2″ color photographs on a plain white backdrop, a medical fitness statement. The $60 visa fee and a letter of invitation on official letterhead from the institution they would be attending are required.
