Till now, the program has received a massive response from international students across the globe. The program was initially introduced eight years ago in the year 2012. In 2019,  146,600 international students applied for the scholarship program. So you can very well imagine the popularity of the scholarship program. 

When all the foreign universities are discriminating between the domestic students and the international students, Turkey has taken a progressive step during this pandemic. They have launched a scholarship program where international students can get money for their all-round development. The program is designed in a way that can help international students to construct a flourishing career. International students are quite happy with this move to Turkey. 

International students are delighted with Turkey’s new scholarship program

International students are suffering a lot during this pandemic era. Recently China has announced that International students from countries like Britain, India, and many other countries can’t come back and resume their higher studies there. The reason is simple.  The mainland Chinese became COVID free in August 2020. Hence they are not willing to take any risk.  No one knows if they are speaking the truth. But this is what China is claiming.  The Chinese universities and government are not willing to risk the lives of their students and people. The decision of the Chinese government disheartens international students. Many international students don’t know what will happen to the future. Ph.D. students are anxious about their future as they cannot do their lab work and fieldwork back in China. The final year students are equally concerned because if they cannot give exams or come back to China, they will be losing another year. They cannot apply for internships and jobs. Such is the predicament of international students. 

China is not the only one to introduce an oppressive policy for international students. The USA is also walking on the same path. I have introduced a new Visa policy where it is written that International students can stay in their country for only four years. It doesn’t matter if their course is finished or not. They have also made a list of the ‘terrorist countries.’

Students coming from these countries can stay in the USA for only two years. If they want to stay beyond two years, they have to make a special request to the US’s immigration department. It’s a long drawn process, and there is no guarantee that students will get permission to stay in the country for more years. 

Conclusion

Turkey is a cosmopolitan and progressive country in all respects. When all the countries are putting restrictions on international trips, Turkey is all set to invite international students with open arms. Undoubtedly, this is a very noble and courageous act. 

There is an excellent probability that thousands and thousands of international students will apply for Turkey’s scholarship programs when many other countries’ doors are already closed. The scholarship programs are designed in a way to nurture international students.  There is no discrimination between domestic students and international students. In most foreign universities, overseas students have to pay double or triple the tuition fees compared to domestic students. But Turkey is an exception. It is offering scholarships to international students for studying in Turkey Universities. 

Many people are claiming that 2021 is the year of hope and happiness. Going by the recent developments in the international student arena, it is quite expected that countries like Turkey, Canada, Japan will receive thousands of applications from international students. All these countries have formulated education policies to attract international students. Hence,  these countries’ economies are likely to recover fast in the next year because international students help accelerate revenue.
