Increase in Cyberbullying

These days cyberbullying is one of the biggest dangers of social media. Trolling people on social media has become a full-time occupation. People who are excessively trolled on social platforms are our teenagers.

As teenagers are still growing and maturing, they look at social media as a world of acceptance. When they are being ridiculed for being little or healthy side or wearing more makeup than usual, they seriously got hurt.

Depression is one of the saddest outcomes of cyberbullying. Not only teens, but our politicians are also trolled because of a slip of their tongue while delivering a speech. It has become an increasing trend to abuse politicians through social platforms.

Destroying the Social Skills of Teenagers

An increase in spending time on social media more than routine has effected the face to face communication and also have destroyed the social skills of teenagers.

You can find a large number of outspoken persons talking on social media who stay reserved when it comes to face to face communication. Having know-how of where to hold hands and what kind of facial expressions to show is something that comes with one to one interactions.

Disclosing Too Much Information

Social media has made teens habitual of revealing too much information which they will hesitate to disclose in the face to face interactions. These quickly disclose information like where they are born, which school they went to get an education and other personal details. Using this kind of information, one can easily harm teens.

Addiction to Social Media Is Alarming

Addiction to social media platforms has brought a decrease in productivity levels of teens. Most teens now a day’s waste their precious time tagging and chatting with their friends on social media. In this way, they may neglect their studies and even their family to play a game or talking with friends. This reduces the level of productivity.

Conclusion

So, social media and its excessive usage by teenagers is a double-edged sword. As it has many benefits, one can’t deny its fatalities as well. There is no set rule for us to spend hours on social media. This is where parents need to make special efforts and build confidence in their children.

By keeping an open mind and through dialogue, parents will be aware of the stuff their children are scrolling on social media.
