Project Description

Using a translational approach, the group addresses scientific questions about inflammatory responses to stressors with a particular focus on the cardiovascular system. In vitro and in vivo preclinical models are used as much as samples from registries and clinical studies to gain insight into pathophysiology and mechanisms of diseases related to the cardiovascular system.

Our group is devoted to publishing our results in the finest journals that can be reached and primarily finance the work through grant money. The formal language of the group is English. The colleagues’ task will be to take on and carry out projects together with the Postdocs of the group related to cardiovascular medicine.

A prerequisite for the positions is the successful completion of an academic university degree (Master or equivalent) in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a neighbouring discipline with a focus on immunology, cardiovascular disease or inflammation. Also, broad experience in patient-oriented basic science is considered very relevant, reflected by relevant publications and previous projects.

One of the projects is dealing with vascular complications in response to perioperative inflammatory stress and focusing on the dynamic change of the vulnerability of atheromata (project atherosclerosis).

The other project focuses on the role of protein tyrosine phosphatase receptors in heart failure and their role in cardiac remodelling (project heart failure).
