New Visa Rules for Non-EU Nationals in Germany

We brought good news for those who are willing to work in Germany. From now on, Germany is introducing more accessible Visa Rules and procedures under the new German Skilled Immigration Act.

From 2nd March 2020, a new regulation will get implemented. It will allow non-EU nationals to fill in jobs that could otherwise be filled by a German or EU worker.

This new regulation has been created to aid the skilled labour deficit in Germany. Germany has been facing this crisis for years because many excellent job opportunities remain unfulfilled. The new law defined job aspirants as “qualified professionals.”

But they have a criterion that they have to fulfil before applying to job opportunities in Germany.  

It states that:

1. The education qualification must get recognized by the relevant German authority
2. Must have a job offer from an employer

Before these regulations, foreign workers weren’t allowed to fulfil the job-positions which were reserved for the German nationals. But now things get changed, and the federal law agency will no longer be conducting checks on this issue. So, you are suitable to apply as long as you fulfil the criteria.

Under this law, workers will be able to work on jobs related to their professional field and not necessarily their field of study. They can also apply to jobs that don’t require tertiary education.

Besides that, they can also take up jobs that get related to their field of studies like STEM or Administration jobs. Even candidates having vocational qualifications would also be allowed to apply to these jobs.

Getting a German Jobseeker Visa

As a non-EU worker, you can apply for a German Jobseeker Visa. But you have to show proof of funds making sure you would be able to support yourself throughout the whole period of this visa. The maximum period for this visa is six months. Other than that, you should be able to speak the German language at the B1 level.

On this visa, you can work for 10 hours per week to able to see you. Your employer will be able to work for more than 40 hours.

Applying Without Any Qualification

The non-EU workers not having any qualifications can apply for a special visa which grants them the residence of up to 18 months. They can even get four months extension. They have to have at least A2 level German Language skills.

As a Trainee in Germany

Non-EU students younger than 25 years having a B2 level of German language skills can come to Germany as a trainee under new regulations. They also have to prove that they will be able to support themselves financially for the whole period. The high school leaving certificate is also required.

Easy Changing Residence Status 

Now rules are more relaxed students on vocational training visas can also work meanwhile getting the vocational training. They can also apply for a permanent settlement permit after two years of living in Germany.

E-sports Visa

Without getting approval from the German Federal Employment Agency, they can come to Germany and obtain a residence permit for employment. Eligible applicants must be over 16 years of age, along with having 50% of the income threshold of the statutory pension insurance.
