New Problem Faced by International Students in Germany

You are here: Home / Blog / New Problem Faced by International Students in Germany

August 26, 2019 //  by Amit Kumar

The strength of international students going to German universities has increased dramatically this year. The maximum number of students that Germany can accommodate coming from other countries are way less than what is residing there. Hosting a total of 347583 number of students has definitely helped the German universities grow and gain a lot of recognition worldwide.

But this situation is not bringing any fruitful outcomes for international students traveling there. The overpopulation of international students is creating a negative impact on the study procedure and training curriculums of the domestic as well as international students.

Let’s focus on the reasons why studying in Germany has become a complicated issue for international students in current situations.

Table of Contents

  • Reducing Numbers of Accommodations
  • Difficulty in Understanding German
  • Complications in getting familiar with the Education System

Reducing Numbers of Accommodations

As the number of students is increasing, it is inevitable that the number of spaces for international pupils to live is drastically decreasing. Student’ most common complaints about studying in Germany is the lack of proper accommodations.

Also, as the demand for accommodations is increasing the rent is also increasing. Not every student going there is being able to afford the extremely high accommodation prices.

Form the year 2010 the price for rent has increased up to 67.3% more than what was charged before. The real estate prices are also increasing for the same reason.

Difficulty in Understanding German

Not being able to understand and speak German is a huge drawback for any international student going to study in German universities. Around 33% of the total number of international students faces a lot of trouble since they are not familiar with the language.

Knowing German not only helps a student to communicate better with the native people there but also helps them to find better accommodations, gets them their work permit and a lot of other benefits which a student who cannot speak German will find difficulty in procuring.

Complications in getting familiar with the Education System

Not knowing German is going to be a big drawback here as well. Since the majority of the teachers will communicate in German, it will become quite a struggle to get along with the understanding process.

Students who are not habituated in speaking and understanding German complained that they found the whole process of getting enrolled in the training course extremely difficult.

First of all, the whole admission process is going to be conducted in German hence there is going to be a lingual barrier apart from that understanding the training curriculum is also quite complicated if a person is not familiar with reading German.

Other than that, obviously there will be a lingual barrier when an international student tries and mix up with the traditions and culture of German. Interacting with domestic students will be tough, and this is definitely going to implement a negative impact on the studying experience of international students.

Hence knowing German is definitely a prime criterion every international student should fulfill before shifting to Germany to carry on their education there.
