International Students Should Switch Off Phone During Classroom

You are here: Home / Blog / International Students Should Switch Off Phone During Classroom

September 3, 2019 //  by Amit Kumar

Smartphone has become a necessity these days for everyone. It keeps one connected with their friends and family and also entertained. In the last three to four years, the use of an electronic device like mobiles has become acceptable in schools. But this resulted in obsession. Nowadays the students are getting addicted to mobile phones.

They spend most of the time using mobiles, which is not at all a good thing. International students must not use phones while in school. They must keep their phones off when attending a lecture as it is a major source of distraction. Here is some reason why you need to switch off your phone when in school.

Distraction– When your phone is switched on, you keep on getting notifications. These notifications force you to check your phone again and again. This distracts students throughout the day and they don’t even realize they are getting distracted.

Most of the students also have games on their phone and they keep on thinking about it. They keep on thinking about crossing a particular level and sometimes even start playing it in the class.

Grades Falling– When students are on their phones all throughout the day, they simply cannot focus on their work. This results in a dramatic decrease in their grades.

Cyberbullying– With the increasing use of smartphone cyberbullying is also on the rise. Students get easily affected by cyberbullying and they are unable to concentrate on their work. Students are constantly using social apps and they keep on checking for useless stuff all day and are not able to concentrate on their work.

WhatsApp distraction– WhatsApp keeps one connected with their friends. When students use phones while in their class they constantly get messages from their friends on WhatsApp and they start texting them back without even caring about the lecture.

Cheating– Everything including answers to exam questions is available on the internet. As already mentioned, students are getting distracted because of their phone and they do not learn anything in class. And when it comes to exam they do not know any of the answers and starts cheating.

These are the reasons why students must not use their phones in school or classroom and it should be kept switched off. This keeps them focused on their studies.
