International Students Are Invited To Study in Australian High Schools

You are here: Home / News / International Students Are Invited To Study in Australian High Schools

August 29, 2019 //  by Amit Kumar

Australia is a truly amazing place. It is filled with rich and vibrant places for travel and some of the best educational institutions for study. One of the things that have been noticed in recent times in Australian high schools in the small number of international students that are studying in the high schools of Australia.

This number is very low when compared to the number of students that go to Australia to pursue their undergraduate and postgraduate university-level studies.

This number has got the Australian authorities worried. International students studying in Australian high schools help local students integrate with the world population at a young age. This gives them exposure to the cultures and people from other countries, a crucial thing in the fast-moving world of today.

When international students study in Australia right from the high school level, it will also reduce the risk of them being socially isolated when they are entering university level study programs in Australia.

Many of the high schools in Australia are quite dependent on international students for their revenue. So much so, that these schools are now bringing in new measures to ensure that international students have an easy time and not face major problems when they are studying in Australia.

Australian authorities feel that a lot more can be done by Australian high schools in promoting the high school level studies to international students.

One of the measures that the Australian high school community has taken to increase the number of international students in the high school level is the introduction of vocational courses for students as an additional part of the school curriculum. Vocational courses help the student learn valuable life skills that he or she might require in university-level education.

These vocational courses help students gain practical knowledge and work-based skills at the high school level. This is a part of Australia’s commitment to providing a balanced education that prepares students for life after secondary school.

Another measure is the introduction of consideration of co-curricular activities whilst granting admission to international students in Australian high schools. Students from other countries may be very good at sports and the Australian authorities feel that this achievement must also carry some weight in the admission process. This will also help the students form a good bond with the local Australian students.

Studying high school in Australia has many benefits when you look at it from an international student’s point of view. As discussed already, this will help in the integration of the students to the local culture.

Also, international students will find it much easier to gain admission in undergraduate and postgraduate level studies in Australian universities if they have studied high school in Australia too.

High schools in Australia follow a very sophisticated curriculum that enhances the learning level of the student, this is what universities also look for when they are shortlisting candidates for higher studies and doctoral programs.
