For providing support to various enthusiastic scholars, the Government of India has launched a PhD programme that will offer over 1,000 fully-funded fellowships. Government of India

About Fellowships
Applications for the programme having a tenure of 5 years, from ten ASEAN countries are accepted. ASEAN comprises Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, Thailand, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and the Philippines. The PhD programme will award in any subject in IIT of Bhilai, Bhubaneswar, Bombay, Delhi, Dhanbad, Dharwad, Gandhinagar, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jammu, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Mandi, Palakkad, Patna, Roorkee, Ropar, Tirupati, and Varanasi.
This is designed in commemoration of the 25th ceremony of the friendly and warm ties between India and ASEAN.
Benefits
The Government will provide total funding of INR 300 crore (approx. USD 45 million) in up to 1000 PhD Fellowships. Winners will receive a stipend per month of INR 31,000 for the first two years and INR 35,000 for the next three years.
Applicants will receive a research award up to INR 170,000 for expenses such as travel, books, and contingency. The program will also provide accommodation (monthly house rent allowance) up to 24% as per the norms.
