IIT Delhi Intends To Admit 500 International Students By 2024

A prestigious institution IIT Delhi organized a summit addressing diplomats from various countries. The summit is based on how students from their countries can take benefits from this prestigious institution and the exciting opportunities it is offering while completing their higher education.

The summit involved diplomats from countries including Indonesia, South Korea, Mexico, Sweden, Argentine Republic, Bangladesh, Uganda, Namibia, Brunei, Darussalam, Gambia, and Lithuania.

The summit was a huge success, as per statistics the number of International Students has increased in IIT Delhi is 4 times this year and it is expected to rise more in the future.

During the summit, key persons from the Institution presented a lot of opportunities to the diplomats, which included the International Ph.D. Fellowship Programme with the bright aims of assisting international students in getting higher education from IIT Delhi.

Institute also took the opportunity to explore the possibilities of attracting young faculty members from various academic institutions around the world to join IIT Delhi as faculty-members. It is a great opportunity for foreign teachers to collaborate with Indian teachers to work on projects, which will shape the future of the technological world.

The diplomats showed a keen interest in the opportunities related to academic and research opportunities at IIT Delhi and the institute assured them that it will provide all the necessary help and assistance in this regard.

While addressing the summit Prof V Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT Delhi showed the significance of cultural diversity in any higher education institution and addressed, how this one thing missing in the Indian institutions could be fulfilled. He further added how Institutions want to create students, who have a global outlook and they are a specialized person in their field of work.

Prof V Ramgopal Rao also set a minimum target of 10 percent foreign students in the Ph.D. programs, and the research work should be done on technological platforms of global reach.

According to Prof Sanjeev Sanghi, Dean, Alumni Affairs & International Programmes, IIT Delhi said the summit meeting was a concrete step towards an optimistic future of globalization for the institution and the support from the foreign diplomats was very heartwarming and we have assured to guide and to help those meritorious students seeking higher education at this institution.

Summed up Features of the Summit:

1.    International Students selected for Ph.D. admissions into various programs will be eligible for fellowships, along with Local Students.

2.    Fellowships are open in all Departments, Centres, and schools of the institution.

3.    500 Ph.D. fellowships will be provided to international students over a period of 5 years.

4.    Candidates holding foreign passports will be eligible to apply.

Foreign students can apply for a Ph.D. fellowship in 28 academic units at the IIT Delhi, which is applied mechanics, atmospheric sciences, biochemical engineering, and other fields as well.

Also, IIT Delhi will provide financial support and scholarships to those deserving international students who qualify based on merit among other competing candidates.
