A personal statement is a type of written composition that is submitted when applying for admission into school programs, jobs, scholarships. These personal statements give candidate opportunity to introduce their self to whoever is in charge of the group or organization that you are applying for. It also lets them know about your level of motivation as well as why you are the best fit for the role or program.

As the composition of personal statements is not something that we come across all the time, most people learn how to write a personal statement each time that they have to. There are several times in life that one may need to put together a personal statement quickly.

For instance, the following are typically cases when people write and submit their reports:

  • When applying for a gifted program at a school,
  • When referring to study at a college or a university,
  • When referring to study at the post-graduate level,
  • When applying for a scholarship, and 
  • When applying for a job

  • Personality – What makes you as a person stand out?

  • Goals – Ensure you clearly state your goals to the reader.

How to Write a Personal Statement for a Job?

Knowing how to write a personal statement for a job is crucial in helping you land your dream job. The personal statement for your job is used for marketing yourself and making you stand out from the crowd. It contains several sentences that highlight the person you are, lists out all your skills, your strengths, as well as your career goals.

While your CV is there to let everyone know about your history of employment as well as your achievements, your job statement is an excellent opportunity to let people know a bit about the nature of your personality. Typically, when writing a personal statement for a job, the following key elements have to be contained in it.
