How to Write an Excellent Introduction to Your Five-paragraph Essay?

Your essay introduction is the first paragraph of your essay, which should function in several specific ways. Your first paragraph should capture the reader; it should state the topic and express your opinion. This opinion should get revealed in a thesis statement.

It is always best to begin your essay with a fascinating statement known as the hook. The hook is to pique the interest of the reader. However, this can get done by using funny statements, anecdotes, descriptive words, or exciting facts.

Students could use creative prompts for essay practice. This will help them get ideas on several exciting ways to begin their essay.

The subsequent sentences should support your first statement. They serve to prepare your reader for the thesis statement. The thesis statement is usually the final sentence of your introduction.

The thesis sentence should transparently offer your argument. Your arguments should then get separated into three unique perspectives. These perspectives should support your primary argument, as stated in the introduction. These perspectives will act as the central themes for each of the body paragraphs.

Writing the ‘body Paragraphs’ of Your Essay

The body of your five-paragraph essay will come with three distinct body paragraphs. Every one of these paragraphs is limited to a single primary idea that acts as a support for your argument.

It would help if you went about the body paragraph of your essay in the right manner. You include the supporting idea and the topic sentence. These two elements should get supported with two or more convictions as evidence.

You should consist of examples to validate your argument. After which you can then conclude the paragraph. To link to the next section, you should use transition words. This helps to create a logical connection between items.

In a nutshell, every one of your essays, body paragraphs should follow a simple pattern. They should all have the statement, its supporting ideas, and a transition statement.

And speaking about transition words, they are very vital in literary writing. They can get used to any essay. They are very versatile and multi-functional words. They help you smoothly transition from one essay paragraph to the next.

Famous transition words include: as well as, furthermore, additionally, and moreover. Others are likewise, similarly, alternatively, naturally, and by comparison.

Writing the Conclusion of Your Essay

The final paragraph of your essay serves to summarize the main points of your essay. They also reiterate the central argument of your thesis statement.

The conclusion should list out all of your main points. The end should not repeat particular examples of sentences previously mentioned. This last paragraph is to create a lingering impression on the reader.

In conclusion, the initial sentence should restate all supporting arguments in the body paragraphs. It should be done in such a way as it relates to your essay thesis statement.

Your next following sentences should demonstrate how the main point of the essay can lead to more arguments on the topic. Finally, your conclusion should end with an anecdote, a question, or a final consideration. The last sentence is to create a lingering impact on your reader.

The moment that you finish your essay’s first draft, you should analyze the thesis statement of your introduction. Go through your article to ensure that it flows appropriately. You should check the supporting paragraphs for sharp points.

Furthermore, the supporting paragraphs should address the specific focus of the thesis. If you are having second thoughts about the argument, rewrite the thesis. It can get rewritten to fit the essay’s body and summary more appropriately. You can then adjust the conclusion of your essay, to nicely wrap it up.
