2. Application Requirements

Every university has its own set of requirements but overall, here are some common points that you must remember while filling out an application for a college:

  • Almost all Austrian universities need the students to know German. This is especially for all the Bachelor programs because they are taught in German.
  • Those looking forward to English degrees should be fluent in English.
  • You must have a valid diploma or the passed certificate of the previous degree that you have cleared in your country. Your application will be accepted based on the marks obtained, and it also determines the subject that you chose to pursue your studies in Austria further.
  • You must have appropriate professional experience if you are looking forward to applying to the University of Applied Sciences.
  • All Non-European Union Students and Non-European Economic Area Students belonging to a Non-European Union Country or Non-European Area Country will have to pick the same discipline that they undertook in their previous degree. For example, if you have completed Bachelors in Business, you cannot pick a Masters in Computer Analytics.

These are some common points that every university in Austria looks for.

3. Required Documents

The documents required for your enrolment in Austrian University are as follows:

  • Photocopy of your passport or ID Card
  • Your Last Completed diploma – high school diploma for Bachelor’s studies or Bachelor’s diploma for Master’s studies
  • German language proficiency – high school certificate affirming German lessons for at least four years or a diploma in the German language
  • English language proficiency – IELTS, TOEFL

The mentioned documents are common for both students EU/EEA and non-EU/EEA. However, the non-EU/EEA students must also provide and additional document:

· A certificate of special qualification for university studies (Nachweis der besonderen Universitätsreife). A student must prove that he or she is eligible to pursue university studies in the field chosen by them.

4. Check for Entrance Examinations

Some universities of Austria have entrance examinations oral/written or both that are held six months before the term commences.

5. Deadlines for Application

Austrian universities are specific about deadlines, and you must know when to submit your application:

Non-EU/EEA Students must submit their applications by September 1 for the winter semester and by February 1 for the summer semester.
