Introduction

If you are reading this particular article, congratulations on your ambition! Columbia University is one of the world’s best universities. More than 15 billionaires in the world had graduated from this university! Let’s find out how to get into Columbia University.

Early application preparations

If you want to join the ranks of those who are successfully admitted to most of the American colleges, including this renowned university, it is very important to start preparing yourself on time.

Entries to the Columbia University start from October (early enrollment deadlines) and last until January. You must meet all the necessary conditions for finalizing your application process before January. Otherwise, you won’t be able to apply that year.

TOEFL (if necessary), SAT, and ACT exams

Most of the prospective students do have the proof of the English language skills through the passed TOEFL exam, but it is necessary to prove the general abilities by taking the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) exam. SAT is a form of admission exam that is required to enroll in undergraduate studies in the US, and it is necessary for studying at Columbia University as well.

There are two variants of the SAT exam – SAT Reasoning, which examines your mathematical, and language skills, and the SAT Subject exam, which examines knowledge from one subject that is important for the candidate’s choice.

GRE exam

GRE exam, which stands for Graduate Record Examination, is required for enrolment in graduate studies at Columbia University. It also consists of a general (verbal and mathematical part and writing an analytical essay) and a specific part (knowledge of a particular subject, depending on the study area).

Once you have passed all the necessary tests, you will have enough time to write a quality biography, a motivation letter, and an essay. Writing an essay is extremely important when applying for most of the American universities, including Columbia University.

It requires an analytical and argumentative writing style in which you clearly state and defend your attitudes. Let’s emphasize that the most important essay is your motivational letter. It is crucial to give a (realistic) picture of your knowledge and abilities, the motives that led you to enroll in the study program and what you expect from it, as well as the ambitions for the future. Additionally, you will need two to three letters of recommendation.

Application Fee

You must submit the application fee when applying to Columbia University. However, students who state that this represents a financial burden can benefit from financial aid.

Conclusion

Finally, you can send all the materials directly to the University Application Website, which allows you to apply to more than one faculty at a time. This is great, especially for those students who have several options in their mind.

After that, all you have to do is wait with joyful enthusiasm for the results. They are usually announced in March or April. Becoming one of the students of this university that was the intellectual cradle to numerous leaders, billionaires, and presidents, for more than 250 years, will be one of the best experiences in your lifetime.
