How to Do Group Study?

You are here: Home / Blog / How to Do Group Study?

November 15, 2019 //  by Amit Kumar

One of the things that we all have done in our student life is participating in group studies. But most of the time, the reviews weren’t as useful as they should have been. It is because most of our attention is divided amongst everyone sitting there.

If they move so much as their finger, we tend to notice. It can be very distracting. The sole purpose of group studies is to help out each other with things we don’t know. So how should a group proceed to study? Here are a few tips:

Table of Contents

  • Include Good People
  • Distribute Time Smartly
  • Be Prepared
  • Be Organized
  • Create a Format
  • Choose a Place
  • Conclusion

Include Good People

For a group study to be effective, the people in it should be good. Useful here means people who want to study and get better. If you add people who only want to create a ruckus, then good luck with that, but you won’t be able to study very well. A group is as good as the people in it, remember that.

Distribute Time Smartly

Everyone in a group is different. Some people get tired of studying too fast, and some people can do it for hours. That is why you must divide the sessions of your studies very smartly. That way, when it is time to resume studies, everyone is charged up to absorb all the knowledge that comes their way.

Be Prepared

If you are approaching the group studies unprepared, it won’t go very smoothly for you. Ensure that you are aware of what topics everyone has decided will be covered in the next meet.

Also, understand which topics you are comfortable with and which you are not. That way, when you go for the group study, you can address every one of the problems you are facing.

Be Organized

Any group which is not held is going to fail eventually. That is why, for any group, the presence of a leader is significant. Without a leader, everyone tends to go their way and then it becomes more of an individualistic approach rather than the group approach. Most usually, the leader of the group is the person who has invited everyone to study together.

Create a Format

A formal or informal format detailing the way the group should proceed will be of big help to everyone in on it. A form allows you to get an idea about how the next session of your studies will proceed.

You can also structure the books that you are going to use for studying and how the questions will be raised and that sort of stuff.

Choose a Place

The essential factor for a group study is the place where it will happen. Sometimes it makes all the difference. If you can manage to get an area which is quiet and peaceful, then make the most use of it. You can meet at a friend’s place or even keep changing the study place so that you don’t get bored or tired of one site.

Conclusion

When it comes to group study, choosing the right place, the right time and the right people can manage the results just fine. Also, keeping strict guidelines with how will things proceed is a critical task.
