Dejavu Can Make You Win Abroad

You are here: Home / Blog / Dejavu Can Make You Win Abroad

February 8, 2020 //  by Amit Kumar

Do you have that feeling when you find yourself in a place that you know you haven’t been to but suddenly feel like you have already been there before? That very feeling is called a Dejavu.

Dejavu is a familiar feeling, and statistics show that it happens to two out of every three persons. In some, it happens every hour of the day.

Dejavu is a French word which means ‘already seen,’ there are also other similar terms like:

  1.  Jamais vu, which means ‘never seen’ this is ‘a sense of unfamiliarity with or of never having experienced or seen before, something should be familiar.’
  2. Presque vu, means failure to remember something with the sense that recall is imminent.
  3. Deja entendu is the feeling where you are sure you have heard something before like a conversation or a musical phrase.

There are several reasons you could be having a Dejavu feeling abroad as a student, some include

  • You travel a lot: Frequent travels are a significant cause of Dejavu’s. Students are more likely to think they are in a familiar place if you are the kind that goes around. Being homesick also causes this feeling. However, if you stay in a particular area or have a straight forward daily routine that keeps you indoors, Deja Vu may be reduced.
  • Past life: in some, believes there is a previous life, which simply means you have Lived on earth before, so you might walk into a new house in that lovely neighbourhood and get that Dejavu feeling because in your past life you lived that Live. I wonder which experience you will prefer.
  • Then it could not be a Dejavu: It could just be that you have been there before and you just cannot remember, and so you feel it’s Dejavu. It could just be your brain trying to process multiple information at the same time and, for some reason, cannot compile them together correctly.
  • Precognitive dreams: Simply put, having visions of events that will occur before they occur. In such a situation, when the event eventually occurs, you might feel you have been there before. Well, you have but only in your subconscious, ‘In your dreams. ‘It happened but not in real life but your dreams
  • Stress and fatigue: Have you heard that saying that you cannot cheat nature? Well trying hard could result in a Dejavu. When the mind and body are weary, it sometimes tends to malfunction or misbehaves. You simply need to take some time put and rest just relax and obey nature.
  • Not concentrating: The more focused you are, the less time you have for feelings, even Dejavu’s feelings.

How Can It Help a Student Abroad?

  • Dejavu’s feeling can help reduce anxiety; that feeling you have already been to a place could help reduce the fear of ‘how to cope,’ thereby increasing confidence.
  • The hypothesis of a past life, where you have lived that life before, still leaves a question? Is there anything like a past life? I guess we may never know, although so many believe hold such thought as real.
  •  Dejavu feeling can help you feel at home while abroad in addition to confidence, Deja Vu can help you feel relaxed.

Okay, think of this, you feel you have already been to a particular place before, this will no doubt help you feel at home as the streets feel the same, the faces look the same, you might want to be careful, so you don’t start tapping people thinking you know them.

  • Dejavu feeling can help you settle in quite quickly. This may lead to more productivity. When you are settled in a foreign environment, it enables you to achieve more of your goals. For example, as a student, settling down quick, help you focus on studies. As you will have more time to face the task ahead when the challenges of moving and settling down have been dealt with.It clears your mind and helps meet and make new relationships.
  • It also ensures an unforgettable experience. Lots of fun and adventures. This could be the difference between a good trip and a disastrous trip.

Two significant challenges with Dejavu’s feelings while abroad as a student is the differences in time zones and weather conditions. Now, these could make your time elsewhere uncomfortable.

There Are Some Ways to Help Deal with This

Never change your ways of life even if you are in a new country.

  • Maintain a daily routine, like waking up to morning sprints, talking walks. This helps create a comfortable environment around you, which will help settle down and take away the time zone factor.
  • Visits places, like going to a mosque or church to pray. The site might not be the same, but you most likely would feel relaxed. Besides, it is doing the same thing in a different environment.
  •  There’s also going to parties and clubs: football matches and some exciting places like the mall and a nice restaurant. While choosing restaurants, be sure to pick one that has some similar foods with what you are familiar with.
  • Study the weather in your destination place before making the trip to know if they are comfortable. Comfortable weather could help the mind and bring about a strong Dejavu feeling. And this could help settle down and also boost productivity and soundness.

In conclusion, Dejavu can make you win abroad, Dejavu is quite harmless and should not inflict any harm or damage, and it is beneficial. It could be the difference between a good trip, and a bad one could also boost confidence and productivity.
