China Cuts Capital Flows for Foreign students

You are here: Home / News / China Cuts Capital Flows for Foreign students

September 2, 2019 //  by Amit Kumar

International students from China have been a significant portion of citizens who went to different countries to pursue their education. The majority of Chinese international students went to the topmost universities in Australia.

But in the recent year as the Department of home affairs released the student’s visa and temporary graduate visa program report. It is detected that the extreme craze among Chinese people to travel out of their country and pursue their education has diminished to an extreme level.

Universities in Australia are experiencing a major downfall in generating revenue since Chinese international students are no more traveling abroad, rather Australia to study there. Some of the research conducting universities will face a huge amount of loss in their funding and revenue generation.

Also, the University of Queensland, Monash University, University of Melbourne, and other national universities of Australia face a lot of hurdles in generating revenue for losing a promising number of international students coming from China.

There can be multiple reasons behind the downfall of Chinese international pupils. China recently has been investing a lot of finances in enhancing their own education system. They are investing in creating better infrastructure and including more options to let students indulge in research programs as well.

Also, the decreasing number of Chinese international students going to Australia can be due to the development of political bitterness among the two nations. This can affect the overall development of a student’s academics, probably that’s why Chinese students are no more encouraged to go out and travel to Australia mostly to study.

China recently also realized that sending a humongous amount of students abroad is letting a lot of their own resources out. Also, this whole procedure of sending students out to study is depreciating their currency as well.

That can be one of the valid reasons why China is no more fond of sending their students out. To save their economy and make it enriched, China also imposed a lot of restrictions on its citizen’s foreign affairs. People living in China are no longer allowed to invest money in insurances overseas or even any other activities as well.

There are laws imposed on buying real estate as well. Students who still plans to go out to other countries in order to study and build a career faces a lot of hurdles, mostly in terms of procuring money or sending money as well.

Parents whose children are going out to study require to follow up a lot of formalities before sending them money for having a proper life. They require to present a certificate of acceptance for transferring money to their wards.

Even though this whole procedure is going to help China grow into a very financially enriched nation but somehow it is hampering the education possibilities of its students. Traveling and studying abroad not only provides them with better prospects, but it also helps them to grow and become responsible in life, which is a quintessential part of character development in students.
