British Columbia Extends PNP Tech Pilot Program until June 2021

Immigration authorities in the province of British Columbia extended the successful B.C. Tech Pilot to at least June 2021. The pilot provides international tech employees who have job opportunities in one of 29 qualifying jobs in B.C. a route to permanent residency.

The job offer must be for a minimum of one year, and at the time of application, there must be at least 120 days left.

The BC PNP holds Tech Pilot draws nearly every week to reduce the waiting for staff and their B.C. Employers who must meet the eligibility requirements of the program. British Columbia Makes Tech Pilot applications a priority. Once the employees submit a full application, their file will be assigned within the next business day to a dedicated Tech Pilot processing team.

Tech Pilot applications are usually accepted more rapidly than other BC PNP services, most of which take 2-3 months after receipt, the government website states.

The BC PNP will then retain the drawings and declare minimum score criteria for applicants for a provincial nomination. Candidates who are invited will then have 30 calendar days to apply for nomination. The application will then be processed by the BC PNP, giving priority to Tech Pilot candidates.

If the application is approved, the candidate may then make use of the nomination with the federal government for a Candian immigration application. Nominees receive a letter of support for work permits that will allow them to work in the process of obtaining permanent residence.
