British Columbia Allowed 80 Citizens to Qualify For a Provincial Nomination For Permanent Residency

On April 06, 2021, British Columbia invites 80 immigration aspirants to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence in the latest British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program(BC PNP) Tech Pilot draw.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program accepts applications under three major categories: Skills Immigration, Express Entry BC, Entrepreneur Immigration.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program is a route for in-demand overseas employees and skilled entrepreneurs to get permanent residency in BC. It supports prospective foreign nationals with the talents and experience to receive a British Columbia Provincial Nomination Certificate, which will allow immigrants to apply for Canadian permanent residency.

A minimum provincial score for selected candidates from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate subcategories is 80.

What is the British Columbian PNP tech pilot?

Allowing a facilitated immigration route for individuals with tech skills, the BC PNP Tech Pilot has strengthened since its launch in May 2017. The pilot project has been extended several times, most recently unto June 2021.

The BC PNP Tech Pilot helps employers recognize their expertise needs by providing a fast-tracked, permanent immigration pathway for high-demand foreign workers and international students.

The BC PNP Tech Pilot supports technology sector applications for existing BC categories. The applicants need to meet the basic requirements of each British Columbia immigration category. The candidates need to have a legitimate job offer of at least one year in one of the Tech Pilot’s available occupations.

British Columbia immigration categories include skilled workers, health care professionals, overseas graduates, overseas post-graduates, and semi-skilled employees.

To apply for the Skills Immigration or Express Entry BC categories, applicants have to create a profile through the BC PNP’s online portal and register under its Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

The SIRS is a points-based system that helps the BC PNP to prioritize candidates, who prove the required skills to support the province’s economic growth.

An applicant registration score settles whether or not a candidate will be requested to apply for a provincial nomination. Periodically, the BC PNP conduct draws to invite the highest-scoring registrants under each category to apply for a provincial nomination.

So far in 2021, BC has 19 draws through its several PNP streams and welcomed nearly 3,000 applicants to apply for a provincial nomination.

Express Entry

Express Entry BC is a fleeter way for eligible skilled workers to migrate to British Columbia. It is the initial way to welcome economic class immigrants. The candidate also needs to qualify for a federal economic immigration program.

It utilizes a points-based scheme and is a completely internet-based registration and application process for both the BC PNP and PR process.

The candidates who receive a nomination from British Columbia will be given 600 points extra toward their Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score and assured an Invitation To Apply in a forthcoming federal Express Entry draw.

Federal Express Entry draws are held twice a month, around 5,000 immigration candidates are invited to apply for PR in Canada. The latest draw was held on March 31 and April 1, resulting in 5,284 applications for permanent residence combined. Earlier this year,
